OUR EXPERIENCE: we loved it! We got 2 sun loungers at the waterfront and stayed the whole day, staff were friendly and attentive, easy swimming in calm refreshing water, the waterpark was really fun. Would recommend.
TOP TIPS: 1) arrive early if you can- we arrived around 10am and were one of the first there so could choose sun loungers, by lunchtime the whole place was full. 2) wear waterproof shoes if you have them- was a little rocky / pebbly getting in and out of the water in places. 3) Stay to watch the sunset- they stop serving at the bar at 5pm but you're welcome to stay to watch the sun go down, it was gorgeous!
WHO WE'D RECOMMEND FOR: We're a British couple aged 25-30 travelling round central america. This place would be great for families, couples and anyone who wants to chill by the water and not lift a finger or those who want more adventure with the inflatables and waterpark.
HOW TO GET THERE?- 40-45mins on a golf cart, relatively easy to find, roads can be a bit bumpy but fine overall, plenty of free parking when...
Read moreOn my last full day on Ambergris Caye, I had to go to Secret Beach (which like they say, is not secret anymore). But which restaurant area for lunch? My research had come to a solution and that is where I directed the cab driver. But he had other plans for me. He was taking me to an alternative dining spot, the Secret Beach Water Park Bar and Grill. I replied by saying I was not into waterparks. He said while the waterpark was nothing to scream about, the food at the grill was really good.
When we got there, he introduced me to Cha Cha, the grill master. When it was time to eat, I went up to him and chose a freshly caught one pound red snapper ($30 US). I watched Cha Cha clean it up, butterfly it and cook it on the grill, while constantly basting it with a mix of butter, garlic and spices. The final product that reached my table, was something to write home about. The fish meat was fluffy, tender, intensely flavorful and melted in your mouth. It was an adequate and generous portion, that was perfectly prepared. It came with a side of salad and of course, rice and beans. Both the sides were also exceptional. What a wonderful find and an unforgettable lunch for the memory books. Sometimes, you have to listen to the locals, if you wish to...
Read morePlease note that 4.5 is a great review. 5 is excellent and rare. Overall - For me, this was a highlight of our time in Belize. Just imagine eating freshly caught fish while sitting in warm ocean tidewaters. During this time of year, the Gulf (east) beaches were inundated with extremely high sargassum, making the resort beaches unswimmable. The western shoreline of Secret Beach was calm. Overall, the food was good, and the service was terrific. Everyone treated us like family. The kids played on their floating park for hours while responsible teenage water chaperones monitored them.
Food - The beef brisket was okay, but the beef ribs were excellent. I grill a lot, so I know the difference.
Other - Finally, we took Parasise Spa's offer to get a massage. The person said that we were next in line, and I was sceptical that there was a wait. Well, I was wrong because this was the best massage that I have ever experienced. I got up and asked, "What was that?" I did not want the experience to end. Nicole, you were amazing. Please set up your page so we can share it.
On another note, I liked how all the small businesses worked together....
