Hostel review. Do not stay here if you want a restful and quiet stay. This hostel should be advertised as a party hostel because during the day, until 11:30pm on weeknights and until 1:15am and 2:30am on weekends music is blasted so loud that you can’t even have a conversation in your room with the windows closed. The walls also reverberate. The venue is practically a nightclub on weekends with live bands followed by DJs. The worst part is when we asked what time the music would end we were lied to (it ended over an hour later than they said). In all honesty, the establishment does not care about its hostel residents and solely focuses on its bar, restaurant and club customers.
On top of the consistent loud noise the breakfast consisted of cold scrambled egg and bread and ended at 9am which is early given the time that the loud music ended each night previous.
The laundry service was also not up to standard at all. Our clothes were meant to be returned within 24 hours but were returned later than expected - and one batch was even returned wet.
Our room also backed onto a balcony that at times had event staff and DJs talking and chatting into the early hours of the morning once the music had ended. As much as the members of staff were smiley, most of those located downstairs also made no effort to be quiet in the early hours of the morning after the music ended - laughing, chatting and shouting.
Please do not stay here - unless you want relentless loud music and a below par hostel service. Expedia, booking.com and any other companies that advertise this hostel really need to take action. It’s not fair. This is anything but a...
Read moreBefore getting there, I was skeptical. The hostel has some mixed reviews, so I wasn't sure if I'm gonna have a great or terrible stay. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised, though.
The staff was friendly and helpful. There is an angry looking Señora called Rosie. She is, however, not as unfriendly as she looks.
The atmosphere in the courtyard is really relaxed. I liked to work there and I also ate in the restaurant a few times. The food is amazing. You don't get a mountain of food, but rather a nicely decorated peace of art. The portions are not that big, but that way, you can also eat a dessert without feeling too full. The prices are fair.
The breakfast is a bit too sweet for my taste, but it also changed a bit every day, so I never got board. The rooms are nice and I slept great.
My biggest concern was the loud music, but the parties are only on the weekend. I also learned that since two weeks, there is a new hostel manager. He is getting rid of the flaws the hostel had. He informs the people when there is a party. That way you can opt for an other hostel if you have a problem with that. I saw that you can't book the hostel on booking.com when there...
Read moreWorst accomodation I have stayed at in over two years of travelling. The rooms are big and spacious, as mentioned in other reviews but they are all surround an outdoor courtyard that occupies a bar and restaurant. At weekends they have events with live music which just reverberates into all the rooms. The walls are very thin and it honestly feels as though they are playing directly outside the door. After complaining twice about the noise to two separate people, both of who were completely unapologetic, I was promised that the live music would stop at 11pm. At 11:30pm the live music eventually stopped but was immediately replaced with music played over the sound system. The noise wasn’t even coming from hotel guests as it was a private event. In all honesty, this shouldn’t be an operating hotel. There are plenty of really nice hotels in Sucre which are much nicer, liveable and the same price as here. If you are looking for a place to sleep, this isn’t it. Avoid...
