Aipo & Aipim offers a unique dining experience with its "weigh and eat" concept, where you pay by the kilo for your meal. Located in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, this restaurant is perfect for those who enjoy variety and flexibility in their dining choices. My visit last night was an interesting exploration of their buffet-style offerings, though it came with a mix of highs and lows.
The buffet line is extensive, catering to a wide range of tastes. From fresh salads and fruits to appetizers, fried or baked fish, and a variety of meats like chicken and beef, there’s something for everyone. The inclusion of sides like vegetables, fries, and mashed potatoes adds to the diversity. One standout feature is the grilling station at the end of the line, where you can request your choice of protein to be grilled to order. It’s a nice touch that adds a personalized element to the meal.
The salads and fruits were undeniably fresh, a highlight of the meal. However, many of the entrees appeared to have been sitting out for a while, with the exception of the roast beef, which was both fresh and delicious. I opted for a steak from the grilling station, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite tough. Thankfully, the manager was accommodating and allowed me to exchange its weight for more of the excellent roast beef, which salvaged the experience.
The service at Aipo & Aipim is a strong point. The wait staff are kind, friendly, and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is pleasant. The atmosphere is typical of a buffet restaurant—casual and bustling—making it a good spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
One thing to note is that the meal can be pricey, coming in at $22 per person. While the variety is impressive, the quality of some dishes could be improved to justify the cost. On the plus side, complimentary coffee or tea is offered at the end of the meal, though desserts are an additional charge.
Overall, Aipo & Aipim is a solid choice for those looking for a diverse buffet experience in Rio. While some dishes fell short, the fresh salads, delicious roast beef, and excellent service made up for it. If you’re in the mood for a customizable meal and don’t mind the price, it’s worth a visit. Just be selective with your choices to get the most out of...

Read moreFor the life of me I can’t understand how this place has high reviews.
The food was cold and old. They tried to charge me for an entire soup bowl for just a spoon full of soup. There is nowhere that states it discharged by unit then they come back like if they’re going to help me out and say they’re going to charge me the equivalent of five US dollars for just that alone! They had a horrible attitude about the entire experience I paid for my food and left a plate full untouched and left...
