ibis budget RJ Copacabana — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

My four-night stay here while visiting RJ couldn’t have been better and more suited for my basic needs as a solo traveler. I knew coming in that I wouldn't be receiving luxury, spaciousness, or any big perks common at higher-end chains—I booked for the unbeatable $29 price and wonderful location, and nothing more. So if you’re expecting anything extra, this isn’t the property for you.||||But I really enjoyed my stay!! The staff, especially a super nice woman at check-in whose name I dreadfully forget, made my visit special. Everyone was willing and excited to help with anything I needed, including supplying me copious bottles of water to last me the week. When I needed a wheelchair-accessible taxi to pick up my wheelchair when it lost battery, the aforementioned woman was so kind and helpful for calling local companies and their drivers to find someone on a moment’s notice. Thank you!||||The rooms were definitely small and basic, but they were clean and in far better shape than most Ibis properties I would end up staying at while in Europe in June 2022. My electric wheelchair just barely fit through the door and into the space. Knowing that all I really needed at a hotel on my RJ trip was just a bed to lay my head on, the Ibis Budget provided me that, put simply. I also requested a room facing the interior apartment block area (i.e. away from the street), and noise levels were perfect for my sensitive ears. Traffic in RJ isn’t too noisy anyway, but I recommend these rooms for anyone in any case.||||Stays like these are what make me grateful to be a loyal newcomer to Accor and their rewards program. This hotel is not on the seafront but it is a short walk to the beach so you get no views of Copacabana. If you want luxury or fancy this is not the choice for you. I was in a wheelchair accessible room (despite having no disability) which was slightly larger than the standard room with a large bathroom with shower (no bath). The rooms are basic and have no real storage in them so I was living out of my suitcase. Also the room has no safe so bring something you can lock things away. Apart from that the only little niggle was the broken curtain which could disturb sleep for some but I always travel with a eye mask. The staff were lovely and I tried my best to speak some Portuguese/Spanish but sometimes I did struggle. Breakfast was included in the price but again lower your expectations as it is limited (cereal, breads, pastries, ham and cheese and scrambled eggs) but it was filling. ||||I slept very well which personally is the most important thing I rate and the Wi-Fi worked all the time which has not been the case in some more expensive hotels I have stayed in.||||If you want amenities then this is not the hotel for you but if you need a clean basic room that is not in a hostel or a dated B&B then it is an...

La atencion salvo algunas excepciones es demasiado fria y despersonalizada. Para el check out tienen una cajita donde tirar la llave y eso es todo. En el desayunador no te dicen ni buen dia y andan con unas cofias puestas que dan muy mala impresion (amen de que bramatologia se los debe exigir parecen robots automatas). Todo el servicio es desangelado y frio. Uno viene de vacaciones a Rio, nadie viene a la playa de Copacabana a hacer negocio. Deja un servicio asi para Oslo o Bruselas (con todo el respeto que Oslo y Bruselas me merece). En general las instalaciones estan en muy buen estado, el ascensor es rapido, incluso por la mñn anda bien. La habitacion es muy pequeña. Un horror, entra en la categoria de hostel (y no de los mejores). No tiene frigobar (en Rio de Janeiro con 40 a la sombra no te podes llevar una cervecita a la habitacion). Para moverte tenes que turnarte con tu pareja. No hay donde dejar las valijas. El lavabo esta al lado de la cama y las puertas de ducha e inodoro separadas. Con el agravante de que la ducha tiene puerta semicerrada y el vapor va a la pieza y el inodoro es hermetico por lo tanto te la regalo. Las paredes son de durlok, no tuvimos problemas porque no tuvimos vecinos cerca pero me imagino que con el hotel lleno se debe escuchar todo. Cada vez que alguien habria una puerta se movia la pared y por ende la cama. El aire no tuvimos necesidad de usarlo pero al prenderlo hacia demasiado ruido. La vista muy bonita, piso 14, no habia ruido y tenia buena aislacion del exterior (no asi del interiror). El blanco bien aunque no te dan toalla de mano, tampoco productos de tocador (asi como leen, ni un jabon). Que mas? El desayuno no me gusto, si bien tenia variedad todo daba desconfianza y ademas no tenia buen sabor. El budin si pero las facturas parecian de corcho. El cafe zafaba, las frutas puede que tambien pero no habia variedad. Un dia habia tanta gente que se armo una cola de 20 personas afuera, no me imagino en temporada alta. Las mesas son compartidas y el aire acondicionado te pega en la cabeza no importa donde te sientes, no hay ventanas, parece un matadero. Te matan el placer de un desayuno carioca, creo uqe es lo mas imperdonable y evitable. Pero todo es asi en el hotel, parece una nave espacial. Con robots y todo. La distancia a la playa esta re bien, el lugar esta re bien ubicado, es tranquilo y tiene un par de restaurantes para comer al lado. Me cobraron de mas y si no ponia el grito en el cielo no me lo devolvian. Pero todo resulto bien. Que mas puedo decir, la politica de Budget no me gusta, me equivoque. Quizas en Mendoza por trabajo en la semana este hotel esta bien. Pero para ir de vacaciones a Rio frente a las playas no. El tamaño de la habitacion y el trato desangelado va mas alla de Budget o no Budget. Al fin y al cabo la relacion precio calidad no fue buena porque por la misma plata hay muchos hoteles que ofrecen lo mismo pero con espacios mas amplios. Cai en la trampa de confiar en un hotel de cadena que ya conocia sin conocer la politica de los Ibis "Budget".... no repetiria una experiencia en similares...
