My partner and I were fortunate enough to dine at this restaurant as walk-in customers and the wait was short, which I attribute to the time because the line was very long when we departed the restaurant. The restaurant was full during our time at the restaurant and tables quickly filled up as people departed. Clearly, adult is popular. The restaurant felt like any nice and trendy restaurant in New York City. It had a modern, trendy city vibe full of well dressed people of means. It felt slightly pretentious but not stuffy and outright exclusive. The vibe was a mix between established artsy-type people, influencer types with plastic surgery, yuppy couples/families, and people who didn’t appear to put on airs. The overall vibe is young, metropolitan, stylish, and upper class.
The kitchen is open and visible to patrons. It was fun to witness the staff prepare, plate, and serve the food. I felt bad for the kitchen staff because it seemed as if they worked nonstop! They seemed to work harmoniously, though, which I appreciate because you don’t want negative energy in your food. The alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages were absolutely delicious! I can’t recall the last time I enjoyed a beverage like the ones I ordered. They were so delicious that I didn’t care about the price.
My partner enjoyed the rice ball appetizer. He enjoyed the crispy exterior, creamy rice and smoky cheese. I thought they were okay because the flavor wasn’t complex enough to me. It tasted one dimensional - it literally tasted like fried rice pizza balls. Maybe I would have enjoyed them more if they contained basil or some other mix of herbs and spices.
The grilled fish was outstanding! My goodness. The texture was thick and juicy, and the natural flavor of the fish was light. It was flaky and cooked perfectly. I could eat that every day. The veal, however, was one hundred percent disappointing. I was shocked. I couldn’t believe the chef literally fried a piece of veal and did nothing else. While it was fried perfectly and the meat was tender it did not contain seasoning. I mean, I did not need to order that at a restaurant. There was the most basic meal I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant of that quality. The chef needs to put that dish back into R&D. This dish was unacceptable and disrespectful. This dish lead me to rate the food with four stars instead of five. My partner loved the dessert pastry because it was crispy, light and the cream filling was only slightly sweet. Overall, it was refreshing and was a provided perfect closure to the otherwise savory meal. There’s only one toilet for staff and patrons alike, which I find problematic. This impacted my score for service. Overall, though, this was a pleasant dining experience and I would return. I felt like I was in New York or Tokyo. I’d return just to enjoy the sexy atmosphere, drink a beverage at the bar, eat appetizers, and people watch. However, I do not recommend ordering the basic fried veal meal. Also, if you don’t like cold weather, then be aware that a number of tables in the middle and right hand side of the restaurant (when standing with your back facing the entrance) are directly exposed to the AC, so choose your table...
Read moreI had a WILD experience here. Found a really long hair in my food. Gross but not the first time in history this has happened, one would expect the restaurant to be apologetic, not charge for the tainted dish and perhaps even offer some drinks of consolation, right?
WRONG.
After turning down the offer to order something else, we get approached by the waitress who nudged us to order something else because we’re getting charged anyway. We are obviously shocked so she calls over the manager who basically said they’ve examined all their staff and none of them have hair that looks like the one I pulled out of my food, and therefore it’s not their fault. He even invited us to the kitchen to check and see for ourselves if the staff have that kind of hair (!!!).
At this point my friend and I are looking at each other in total disbelief at the logic presented to us, almost laughing even. He continues to argue with us and literally said, "you have to see it from my perspective." Again, wild.
I invite the establishment to respond to this review to further justify what happened as I’m almost entertained by the rationalization and want to see more of the mental gymnastics at work.
I dined there on 26/11/2024...
