I’ve been wanting to try Camelia Ododo for quite some time now, and I could finally go today around 11:30am.
The menu offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian options, yes. However, as some one whose eats plant-based/low carb/no refined sugar, I found it a bit hard to pick something on the menu.. I got the feeling that most of the dishes are very heavy on carbs. I didn’t want to order a salad as it was a cold day, so I ended up ordering a bowl, thus making a high-carb choice without much enthusiasm- which is basically rice, beans, with sautéed vegetables (to my surprise the vegetables were high-carb, starchy vegetables such as pumpkin, manioc, carrots, with very few pieces of uncooked string beans).
I had to wait more than 40 minutes for my order, when there were only very few tables at the place. As I had a limited amount of time to have lunch (and less than 40 mins), I ended up getting my food to-go, although my intention was to sit at a table and enjoy it.
All in all, I would say tasty food, very slow service, friendly staff and a menu which could use a few tweaks (more low carb/plates please?) to cater to all...
Read moreThe ambient is cozy, the service is friendly, but everything that I had I was disappointed…unfortunately. I don’t like to leave bad reviews but I went there because of the good reviews. The menu is pricey for what you get. I went there for dessert and drinks, the tiramisu was more like a very sweet cake, I couldn’t even taste the coffee in it. I think they should call it: “doce melado” or something, if the Italians and Austrians ever try this as “tiramisu”, they would be offended. The chai was way too sweet. The americano looked like a tea, I didn’t even try it. Tiramisu was my favorite dessert before I became vegan, I understand how challenging is to make a vegan version of it, but until you find a recipe that reminds a tiramisu, just leave the tiramisu name alone, this would be my suggestion. My friend had wine and pannacotta,...
Read more100% vegan! I ordered a chocolate croissant (pain au chocolat) as take out, the service was really kind, and while we waited they brought us water. The design of the place was very beautiful and if we had more time I'd definitely would've liked to seat there, the atmosphere was really nice.
-🥐We came very late in the evening, and it was very noticeable on the pastrie that it wasn't fresh... I think it's completely fine that they might not make multiple batches through the day and only make them in the morning, but I wouldn't say it was in a good condition to be sold at that point. So my suggestion is maybe only to sell them while they're fresh because I got really excited to have a vegan pain au chocolat but then I was really...
