Just had dinner here & was initially very excited, it was a really cute looking place in a nice area & outdoor they were advertising their many culinary awards they have won. We took a seat and spoke to the lovely gentleman who runs the place & stressed how much we’ve been craving an authentic and spicy curry. We spent $280 and the portions were firstly extremely small & the food was abysmal. I have never been so disappointed in a curry, even going to as far as saying this was probably the blandest curry of my life. Perhaps for the brazillian tastebuds this must be flavoursome. But I thought I was in a safe space seeing so many south Asian people in the kitchen. I specifically asked for an extra spicy curry. We ordered the chicken vindaloo and lentil curry. The chicken vindaloo was not a vindaloo, maybe some anglicised version of it, however, even my worst takeout curry in London was 10x better than what I was served here. The chicken was extremely dry & we had to ask for extra chilli which simply didn’t cut it as the curry had no resemblance to an authentic vindaloo. The lentil curry was essentially flavourless water with little complexity to flavour. I honestly do not understand the high ratings for this place as anyone who has had authentic Indian food knows this was not it. We couldn’t finish our dishes because there’s nothing like wasting your appetite with food that...
Read moreI write this review with the immense satisfaction of dining at this restaurant today 13-Aug along with two of my friends from India... We ordered both vegetarian and chicken dishes. The following points are worth noting... I have been in Brazil for the last two months trying to figure out where I would be getting Indian cuisine for lunch across Rio, SJC and Sao Paulo. I can tell you that today i had the best Indian food at Curry's restaurant after accidentally seeing it during our visit to Catedral da Sé de São Paulo and Japanese market. I observed that owner Rakesh, when he is available, personally talks to all customers and oversees that they are comfortable at each table.. which is very nice. You can tell them exactly what is your preference for spices... Please feel free to talk and explain them in a little detail...They will try to get almost right... In fact they will tell you what they can provide you as all Indian spices are not available in Brazil readily. The portion sizing is very decent and adequate compared to other Indian restaurants... Most interesting to note that they try to standardise all recipes... Importantly they target to get it as authentically Indian as possible with the best available...
Read moreDefinitely one of the best Indian restaurants in São Paulo. The menu seems to be a bit confusing. You get thali's for 50 BRL, which is very reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants in São Paulo. The common items in every Thali are rice, dal, gulab jamun, salad, Naan and samosa. The dish you can select of your choice is a curry, there are different options Paneer butter masala, veg mix curry, palak paneer, chole masala, malai kofta. The rice which they provide is very less, hardly it will be 5-6 spoons. The garlic naan tasted very delicious. The restaurant was very rush when I visited, I had to wait for 20 minutes to get in. They took around 20 minutes to prepare the food. The ambience is descent, they can work on improving the ambience. Overall if you are an Indian and looking for Indian taste, this is the best place to have lunch with limited options for a...
