I was so excited to visit Sal, and as a masterchef fan, I had really high expectations. Unfortunately, I can tell you that if I presented the plates they served me to the chefs in the show, I would be crushed. For starters, the placemats were all destroyed and very low quality. The cups came tasting like detergent. All the furniture looked cheap and low quality, which is honestly unacceptable in a place that charges as much for a plate as they do. The servers were attentive but not very well trained, as we had to repeat our order several times and they didn’t know which plate was whose - also unacceptable in a restaurant of that level. The starters we ordered ( queijo coalho and burrata) were very badly presented, something I know Fogaça would immediately denounce if the plate showed up in front of him in masterchef. The main dishes (for me, a white fish in a moqueca with coriander farofa) tasted great in general but I was very disappointed with the farofa, as fogaça is known as the king of farofa. It was pure flour, not even slightly toasted! Very bland and turned into a mush in the mouth. Also, the sizes of the portions were outrageously large, I barely manage to put down half my plate. Although this would be positive because of the high price, I would much prefer to pay half for half the plate! It is definitely not a refined restaurant at all and I will not be recommending...
Read moreMy husband and I were very excited to visit this restaurant as it belongs to a really famous Brazilian chef, Henrique Fogaça. Although the restaurant has a broad menu, with way too many options of all plates (meat, fish, etc.), everything we order was very well balanced, presented and seasoned. As starters we got the Caju Ceviche, Scallops with Palmito Pupunha and Cupim puff balls. Our favorite was the Caju ceviche, really fresh, with a nice kick in the end. For main dishes we ordered the Bife Angus and Cupim with Farofa de Banana, also very well cooked and flavoured. The farofa de banana killed me, sooo good! The wine menu is great, with good variety of international options, both wines we ordered harmonised pretty well with our starter and main dish. The waiting staff was very receptive, Andre took really good care of us, very attentive. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant and will for sure come back next time I’ll...
Read moreThis is a place where people go to impress, it's not about good food, I should've known better.
We started with a disappointing burrata, dry and bland. The inside of it is supposed to be runny. Low quality olive oil and black pepper, they make a huge difference.
Both lamb and Angus were not tender. Shimeji simply doesn't pair with lamb, what a mess. The potato purée was decent, the farofa as well.
I'm sure the restaurant could do better with the desserts, way too sweet.
Good service. Fulfilling portions.
I understand the country is going through absurd economic inflation, it's hard to source basically anything nowadays, let alone high-quality ingredients. They're trying to keep up, but failing. It just doesn't live up to the hype, not even close.
