Skye — Restaurant in Região Imediata de São Paulo

We looked for a restaurant a bit "out of the ordinary"....we found this one...not the cheapest in town, but the appreciations were promising.....wonderful and architecturally interesting building...Very nice reception....

Unfortunately, that is where the positive things stopped. We (an obvious gay couple, and even worse: a gringo wih a younger Brazilian! I know what I am talking about when it comes to this kind of attitude; I have lived many years in Brazil and know exactly how people there think) were shown to our table , one of the rather nice high tables in the middle of the restaurant...and were then left for about fifteen minutes to our own, something that is most definitely not standard practice in Brazil. We were bumped in by very rude waiters who thought that passing in between our tables and bumpig in to us (not once, not twice, not thrice, but multiple times) was to be preferred over making a detour (of about three meters). We saw about ten other tables who entered after us being served, whereas we were left where we had entered the premisses; without even a drink or a menu.

We left after about 15-20 minutes, after having complained about the treatment we were given. The reaction was typically Brazilian hypocrisy when it comes to this kind of prejudice: we couldn´t/shouldn´t interpret things the way we did, we were wrong..:.we interpreted this completely wrong...that is, until I literally spelled it out for the rather nice young lady at the reception stand...her reaction was: "Oh...now I understand"...I think that says it all.

As said, probably a nice place, but stay away from it as a gay couple or (by deduction) as any couple that does not respect the typical Brazilian ideas of how things should be...

One last remark: for a restaurant in this price range, they should accept anything, even dancing monkeys...of course, on condition that these monkeys not only dance but also pay. The fact that they didn´t says more about the general attitude than I would...

This truly is something unique to do in Sao Paulo! We stopped by to have a drink on the rooftop without a reservation and were able to be seated right away (weekday around 2pm). Just tell the front desk at the hotel that you're going up to Skye and they will guide you to the correct elevator. The views are spectacular and my son actually said he felt like he was on a cruise ship which is ironic since the hotel is shaped like a ship. :) Ibirapuera Park is less than a ten minute walk away so something else to consider afterwards.

Talk about a tri-fecta.

We had a lovely meal including a steak dinner, vegan meal, mohito and Pina colada - both virgins. Also ordered a dessert plate with espresso. Everything was on point, extremely flavorful with plenty of delicious sides. The drinks were also 👌🏽. I'm glad they had the option of a desert plate so we could sample all their delicious deserts in one sitting.

The views were to die for. I can't imagine being able to witness a better view of the Sao Paulo skyline than the one from the skye patio. On-point. I have gram worthy pictures to prove it.

Ambience was so perfect. An excellent mix of fun and romance with the right amount of lighting and sound.

My only issue was the wait time of 1 hr 15 mins. But the lobby of hotel unique was so wonderful, I can't complain much about it. The staff definitely wasn't tardy but it seems like all of Sao Paulo's hot people decided to visit Skye during...
