Two visits to this restaurant, two awful experiences. Food is quite good (somewhat overpriced) but the service is shockingly slow and inefficient. On my two visits everything took forever, from ordering drinks on arrival all the way to the check, everything takes forever and waiters are just not paying attention. I really can't believe this place has a michelin star.....i can't help but wonder how much they paid to get it...
On my second time there it was my birthday and the restaurant was half empty. Even so, we waited for almost 30min before getting the menus (and only after i asked for them). When the meals finally arrived, everybody got their dishes and my filet mignon with aligot arrived to be finished by the table. The waiter then realized the aligot was not good yet and took it back together with my plate and the meat. By the time they brought my filet mignon and aligot to the table, everybody was already halfway through their meals. To make it worse, the meat was already cold by then and the aligot was still so so. This was my last visit to this retaurant. Seriously, don't waste your time on this place. The Jardins region has dozens of much better restaurants....3 or 4 just on...
Read moreThe new restaurant from Chef Alex Atala focuses on "modernized" Brazilian cuisine classics. While obviously anchoring on the fame of this flagship restaurant, DOM, Alex Atala does not disappoint on the quality of the food in Dalva e Dito. In it's menu, you'll find several innovative takes on otherwise common dishes mixed with veritable foodie experiences, prepared with niche ingredients.
One of those experiences is the "Pato no Tucupi", literally Duck with Tucupi. This dish is served with the traditional "Farinha d'água", which, when mixed with the broth from the dish, makes for an interesting purée. The Duck is cooked with mastery, preserving it's texture and flavor, and well paired with the traditional Brazilian sauces.
The overwhelming downside is the price. As is to be expected with a one Michelin star restaurant, most dishes seem (and often are) unfairly expensive. This price is more representative of the fine dining experience than it is of the actual price of the food. If you are ready to dish out the cash to have a new take on Brazilian food, this is the place to go in São Paulo. Otherwise, if you just want tasty and affordable local food, maybe your money is best...
Read moreI had high expectations for Dalva e Dito as it´s Alex Atalla´s (awarded the best Brazilian chef today) second child. The decor is nice but the service and food quality were very poor for a restaurant of this level. Folks there are certainly friendly, but it´s completely unacceptable to have your order forgotten and people who arrived 20 min later being served before you. I had to ask for my starter twice after ordering, which is certainly not pleasant if you´re expecting to be delighted in one of the city´s best eating experiences.
The food was good, but far less impressive than other restaurants at the same level and even lower price (especifically, I am thinking about Epice which I visited the week before).
Overall, I will not get back to Dalva e Dito and don´t recommend it to anyone mainly because you don´t get what you pay for in terms of food experience (let aside the service, which in my case wasn´t good but cannot be generalized). There is a huge premium linked to Attala´s brand which is...
