Hands down the best bakery in Sofia. The (relatively) small selection of breads and pastries is of an outstanding quality - quite honestly of a quality that you can rarely find anywhere today. They seem to combine highest quality ingredients with great technique and passion, and without any compromise to 'make things cheaper' or make them look like something they are not. Their sourdough bread is a pleasure to smell, touch, and eat. Their croissants are beautiful and smell like heaven, and are a delight, bite by bite. And I could go on and on... &Bread is a fairly new little gemstone of a bakery just waiting to be found! It has small tight collection of baked goods from sweets to breads. Each one of the seems to be very well chosen and created. What I tried was the canelés and the signature "city sourdough", they were absolutely marvelous. The canelés are a must try, crunchy on the outside and smooth and silky inside, simple but hard to pull of right. The coffee is a nice surprise as usually at similar bakeries, it is not something focused on. The clerk was a nice girl, though she could have been more inviting to give a presentation on the items, as there are many Bulgarians who would not be familiar with the types of bakes. Unpopular opinion here: The baked goods are okey - no excellent, but no bad for sure. The branded paper they use for wrapping though, smells terrible - may be its the pigment, but it has very strong glue aroma which is basically killing the vibe. I am taking croissants to go and any time I take that thing towards my mouth the terrible smell is hitting me. I got all the "lets be instagramable" idea, but while pursing social media marketing they are missing the main concept - making delicious food.
