We have ordered a table for 8 plus 2 babies for lunch at 1pm. We arrived on time. We were given a very nice table in a very beautiful room but the table was for 6 plus 2 stools for the babies. Shortly after we were helped to add another table to our so to get 8 comfortable seats.
The waiter who served us was very helpful and professional, and got all the orders exact with no mistakes. We had pork knuckle, a specialty of the place and it was very tasty and well cooked. Also the salads were amazing, one with pumpkin quinoa and grilled goat cheese super tasty, salmon with broccoli kale cranberries amazing. We also tested the Quesadilla which also was excellently cooked and delicious, hand made fried potatoes were also excellent, chilli with beef typical Mexican with cheese and beans was spicy just right and very tasty. We had 2glasses of red wines, one was suggested to us by the waiter.
Overall the restaurant deserve a 5 star and is a must experience in Sofia. The food was excellent and well cooked, also the menu has a very good offer with a good amount of selection for all taste, from vegetarians to vegans and healthy food.
Our waiter though decided to enter a 10% tip on the final bill which was something I never experienced in a bulgarian bill before. We were of course happy to leave a tip but not happy to find the obligation of that on our bill.
We did try to say something but the waiter went mad and screamed at us he left the whole room to us (not requested and restaurant was not full at lunch) and worse he also had to point out he did not have lunch like it was our fault. I was a bit shocked by his reaction.
I think one of the rooms maybe on 1st floor could be close with a curtain around 15ish? To let the employees have their food away from guests. Also employees could maybe use phones in hidden places so to leave a nicer impression to guests. Kitchen though did a great job and also the artists who decorated the whole building making the...
Read moreThis place has a beautiful interior, however their service is disastrous! While the food may be delicious for the most part, it is not always guaranteed you will get to try it. For the price some of it was also sloppy - like the chunks undissolved curry in their mussels with curry paste dish.
We were there around lunch and yes, it was busy, but I think a restaurant should be able to plan around that as it is a daily occurrence in summer. We ordered our food and it started coming in the most random order - some mains before salads, two people would order a main at the same time, one would come, the other would come 50 minutes later.
Worst was that we ordered food from their lunch menu for the kids, asked to exchange the potatoes with fries - they said they don't offer fries. I saw them on the menu - got told they are only available in that one specific dish and exchanges are not possible. Fine. However 1 hour later that specific meal still wasn't there. I asked when will it come. Got told 5 minutes. 10 minutes later I asked again, since the kids were super hungry. "in 5 min". 15 minutes later I just got up and left and took the kids to the closest fast food nearby. While I understand that stuff happens, HONESTY and proper communication is the key! Have i been told that the meal will take so long, I would have ordered something else and probably be a much happier customer. Have I been honestly told that there is a delay, I would have again figured out a way. To wait 1 hour and be told 5 minutes and after almost 30 more minutes still NOT have food is not ok especially when I specifically mentioned that it is for the kids and they are hungry and I would order something else if their oh-so-complicated-and-time-consuming fried chicken will take much longer. And from what I hear from all my friends in Sofia, their service is always that rude, incompetent and not accommodating the needs of the customer. Never going...
Read moreSo why two stars? One will not be fair...but two I think are fair enough.
Let's start from the beginning...the reserved table was with some people and we had to wait a min or two to be freed ,and they had to relocate people mid dinner... which is ...no comment.
Than the wine...for 44 lev a bottle I am sure there are better wines. And before the owner says it is a point of taste we were 6 people and nobody liked it.
The menu is a mess. 6 BB people spend like 20 minutes reading it. 3 pages of stuff. No coherent theme. Just stuff. Tarama next to ribs, humus and burger. Fried chicken with guacamole or something like that.
Also when you ask for a glass of tap water, bring a glass of water. It is not okay the service to tell me that the water is not good. Sofia has one of the best tap water in Europe ...I understand that the restaurant makes something like 400+ percentage profit out of bottle water. But when you ask for tap water bring tap water!!!
For the food we waited something like 30min...which is a bit too much. At least everything came together. Well almost mine was 10 min later.... In general the food is ok. And that is it. There are maybe few good meals. But six people ordered six different things and maybe the only good thing was the ribs and the tarama. And when you think about it these are some fairly simple things to prepare.
I ate some chicken stuff and now I am writing this review after I spent a fair amount of time in the 00. It was not prepared okay...it was mostly bread with tasteless sauce just...and it costed too much for.
The service...oh the service. The water stuff...and the waiter came in total maybe 5 times for a dinner that took 3 4 hours...come on...
Maybe in the beginning this restaurant was good. But nowadays almost everything in the center of the city is at its best subpar.
I won't give 1 star cause 1 star is a bit harsh. But 2 is the best I can give. The only okay...
