Mr. Rice — Restaurant in Sofia City

That Mr. Rice has such a high rating is testament to the fact that genuine Chinese food cannot be found in Sofia.

The venue is very hot 🥵 On some days this July the temperature is as high as 39 degrees celsius.

In such oppressive heat one would expect for there to be at least a fan but there is none.

The food is lame chicken in four varieties that do not even taste Chinese.

The cabbage salad with Chinese mushrooms is tasty and fresh but I would prefer for there to be at the very least an aubergine dish and some onions in one of the chicken dishes (it is summer but they don't incorporate any healthy vegetable).

It seems to be only the Chinese that are so indifferent to customer needs ; they have no will to share the marvels of their own cuisine.

As a person who loves authentic Chinese food I believe this sad state of affairs will never change unless people stop frequenting these venues to force...

The place is really affordable if you want to eat well on a budget!! I paid 11 lava for a whole plate of food. I only wish they played music inside so it wouldn't feel so intimidating to talk (i think they do have it but we got unlucky, since they started playing some songs as we finished our lunch) and since it's food per weight it would be nice if it was the customers who puts the food on the plate themselves. I personally didn't mind but I know some people who would feel intimidated by that. Lady behind the counter said she knew little English but she knew all the necessary vocabulary to assist us so I felt great. Visited this place while in Sofia, and found it to be a type of buffet style Chinese dishes which if eating in you choose what you want which is put on a plate and weighed and you are charged accordingly. I had 3 different dishes and a bottled beer which all came to about 4 euros which was excellent value. The choice is limited and mainly chicken, but very good value.
