I chose this hotel based on it’s pool and I was no disappointed - the rooftop pool has amazing views over the city of Phnom Penh - most notably Wat Langka and the Independence Day statue. It is a short walk to Preah Sisowath Quay and it’s many features including the Royal Palace.
The rooms are clean and well appointed, with divine smelling body washes, shampoo and conditioner provided along with dental and shaving kits and combs - you truly do not need to bring anything for your stay here.
The buffet breakfast is nice - with salads, breads, sweets and fresh fruits buffet style, tea, coffee and juices provided and your choice of a dish from the a la carte menu (noodle soup, waffles, ‘American Style’ breakfast and omelette).
The Elephant Bar is beautiful yet busy at night. I struggled to get a table for one on my first night and was offered a sea the pool, which would have been fine had I not been forgotten and then not served. The food is old - honest, but nothing outstanding in my opinion. Try the Special Elephant Cocktail though - it’s delicious!
I would definitely recommend Patio Hotel for couples and singles travelling in Phnom Penh looking for a few night escape as I was, just relaxing by the pool above the chaos of Phnom Penh...
Read moreNice clean room, WiFi good and great pool and bar area. It was nice to enjoy breakfast in the roof bar too. However, our room -206- was exceptionally noisy each night because of the bar just outside our window (constant music and voices until early hours) and on our last night other guests arriving back at the hotel drunk and being very loud - noise insulation is non-existent. We had to be up very early on our last morning for a flight and had very, very poor sleep. No matter how great everything else is - you need to actually be able to sleep on a hotel.
The location of the hotel is good (tuk tuks knew where it was too) for main attractions but we were frustrated by the noise. Given the hotel was so empty, we struggled to understand why the hotel uses rooms they must know will be super noisy in low season?
Breakfast was okay - cooked western options very limited. No soya milk available so had to bring my own. Can't comment on bar/restaurant as didn't use as very limited/nil veggie or vegan options.
Sink is in the bedroom. With loo and shower in independent cubicles with frosted glazed doors - not great for privacy or noise in night.
Whilst staff were pleasant they were all very young and seemed...
Read moreI stayed at the Patio 3 nights in July 2019 having a deluxe double room with a balcony all for myself. Being greeted with a fresh juice, the staff went way out of their way to fullfil all my requests and wishes! Hence, it was never a problem to ask for something I was missing at the breakfast buffet (without being charged for it), using the pool even if it was not serviced due to heavy rain or getting more towels.
Pro: x very high quality of products, service, standard x roof top pool with an amazing view over Phnom Penh x roof top terrace / restaurant (breakfast is also served here) x Breakfast buffet + a la carte (I strongly recommend everyone the fresh noodle soup!!) x spa area with packages x 24 hours serviced reception (a night guard takes care of the guests' safety) x many tuktuk drivers right outside the hotel x close to the monument x billiard table within the restaurant / bar
Contra: x hotel spa is a little too pricey compared to good spa saloons nearby x my room was quite loud due to the construction going on next to the hotel
I would definitely recommend this hotel - I have stayed at 5 star hotels in Phnom Penh and honestly do not think they came close to the quality...
