As we walked in, we were greeted by staff immediately with warm smiles and welcoming attitudes. On the left, I can see the open kitchen with the chefs working away but still paying attention to customers and gave us smiles and nods as we walked by. We went upstairs to a small room with air conditioning and fans. The food selection is a kind of mix of Chinese and Khmer food fusion. I noticed in the corner of my eye, a view into the kitchen with a staff member making dough by hand and shaping dumplings. We ordered Amok dumplings, green onion pancakes, dan dan noodles. Calamari, ribs, and fried rice. Portions are pretty small, almost like Spanish tapas style. I grew up eating Khmer food and had just spent the past week touring Cambodia and eating a ton of meals with family and restaurants and at homes, so for me, this food was pretty bland. Definitely, catering to non Khmer taste buds. My Chinese girlfriend found it to be a nice break from all the overwhelming lemon grass and bombardment of flavors she experienced in the past week. So she liked it. My favorite was the dan dan noodles. The flavor wasn't authentic, missing the numbing peppercorn, but it was still really good and spicy. The ribs had a great Khmer flavor but the quality of the meat was lacking and very chewy. The Amok dumplings were pretty good but light in flavor, to me but perfect for my girlfriend. All in all, a decent spot to bring your non Khmer friends and share food and...

Here's my 2 cents, speaking as a Malaysian of Chinese ethnic, from the worst to the okay:
Signature Taiwan-style beef noodle: A disappointment. The broth the moment it was served to me, is of room-temperature (doesn't help in bringing out the aroma), and it indeed tasted very bland, it's almost as if they forgot to put seasonings. The beef is cold and over-cooked, making it difficult to chew. The noodles are not springy, like it has been sitting there for quite some time. If I had to guess, the ingredients are all pre-cooked, and the staff only need to pour the broth.
Signature steam pork dumpling: Another disappointment. Dumpling skin is too thick, so when you need to re-steam it, the fillings doesn't get heated properly, and don't even get me started on the texture. Not sure if this is meant to be a soup dumpling, but the amount of soup inside the dumpling is close to non-existent. All the more reason that you do not need a thick skin to hold the soup.
Fried Cauliflower and Spring Onion Pancake: Satisfactory. Greasy and the oil used to fry them taste like it has been used for quite some time, time to change! #rancidity
But hey, I can't complain too much at this price. Just, don't call them signature...

If you’ve ever been out in Bassac Lane a little too late (and maybe a little tipsy 🍻), Ma Ma Wong is the perfect place to end the night. It’s got that Hong Kong street food vibe — simple, flavorful, and hits the spot every time.
🥢 The food? • Shrimp dumplings – my absolute favorite here. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly steamed. • Rice noodles – light, comforting, and great with a bit of chili oil. • Lamb or beef – both are tasty, but the lamb has a special richness I love.
Honestly, just thinking about it now is making me hungry again.
💵 The price? Surprisingly reasonable for being right in the middle of everything. Last time, for two people, we had two types of dumplings + four beers and spent $18 total.
🌆 The vibe? The location on Street 308 is perfect. I love sitting outside on the roadside, catching bits of music from nearby bars, people-watching, and just enjoying my food. It’s casual, cozy, and exactly what you want after a night out.
✅ Open late, but they serve during the day too if you can’t wait until evening. ✅ Friendly, quick service. ✅ Great spot for groups, couples, or even solo night owls.
Final word: Ma Ma Wong is comfort food with personality. Whether you’re here for a late-night fix or a lazy afternoon snack, it’s one of those places you just keep coming back to. Highly...
