Namaste India should really have been named Namaste “DELICIOUS” India! A visit to this great find on Bassac street in Phnom Penh is well worth it.

It’s a modern, contemporary Indian restaurant and the only Indian restaurant on Bassac street as far as my eyes could see. From the moment I walked into Namaste India, I liked the vibe and colours (a deep acqua marine cobalt blue) - kinda chic to say the least. The restaurant is owned by a local North Indian based in Cambodia.

For my meal, as a vegetarian/ pescetarian I ordered the tandoori paneer which the staff told me was homemade and utterly delicious - cooked to perfection. I love Indian cheese paneer (as a largely vegetarian/vegan) and this was quite delectable … For my main dish I ordered the fish biriyani which was good, with tender chunks of white river fish which were so soft, moist and quite tasty. A very good biriyani indeed, which could have used a tad more salt and perhaps cumin.

Other recommended dishes from the chef and staff were: pepper prawn tandoori, paneer butter masala, paneer tikka multani, palak paneer, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, cheese naan, tandoori chicken, lamb bhuna gosht, kadhai lamb, lamb keema matter, biriyani (veg, chicken, lamb and fish) dal makhani and dal tadka. For drinks go for the lassis - both mango and sweet lassi. I personally loved my mango lassi.

For the dessert I had the gulab jamun which was very authentic and tasty. Yabadaba do – I’m like Scooby with wheels on to try this all-time favourite dessert treat. The phirni and masala chai were also recommended by the staff/chef.

I found the service at Namaste India was professional and quite prompt. The restaurant has a full bar with both alcohol and a wine list available.

Over in the BKK1 district of Phnom Penh, there is another branch of Namaste India which is a two-storey restaurant and much bigger than the Bassac street spot which is only one floor and quite cosy and more to my preference. Due to its size make a reservation as the tables are only around 10 in Bassac Street in total, including a few outdoor spots.

Namaste India Bassac Street is open from 10am to 1045pm for 7 days a week.

Enjoy your dining visit to this delectable Indian...

Beware! You might end up paying them more than once for your bill/check amount. This happened to us on the 15th March 2024. We had been there for lunch, had a decent meal, but, were let down by the restaurant staff due to their attitude and faulty PoS machine. They tapped my card couple of times to charge the bill value of $22.40 USD, but all failed. But when I checked my bank's app, to my surprise there were two debits and only one reversal among the transactions - confirming one debit went through. However, they didn't agree that one debit transaction has gone through and insisted to pay again. I paid them cash $22.40 USD this time. They then assured to put back the online $ debited from my card later. But, to till this day I have received none!! - which makes me question their real intention and their integrity!! Feel cheated and disappointed that we had to pay twice for a single bill. So It's best if this restaurant can be avoided. Even if you visit make sure you pay them by cash and not through any...

Visited her with my girlfriend as we both fancied a curry, with this place had the best reviews so got us... it was not very impressive at all.

The service was shocking, wrong drinking firstly which we drank, then asked to get another drink twice and the didnt even give us the chance to order anything different to what we originally ordered (the wrong drink).

The food somehow managed to make the experience even worse... we ordered the chicken tikka masala and the chicken lababdar. The chicken in both was almost non-exciting and when we did eventually find some, it was fatty and stringy!

The restaurant wasn’t very cheap either for drinks and food and I expected better from somewhere with such good reviews/high prices!

We will not be visiting again, but hopefully this was just a night for...

This is a modern, impeccably clean restaurant that serves outstanding indian food. We went early in the day, a few hours before dinner and therefore found the place calm. We chose chapatis that looked and tasted like the ones rolled out by our mothers at home. The Dal makhni was delicious as well. However the star of the show was the hara bhara kebab we ordered as an appetizer. It was crispy, mouthwatering goodness in every bite. The service was faultless and we thought the meal well worth the price. If you want to pick an Indian restaurant in Phnom Penh and find yourself at Bassac Lane, Namaste india is the place for you! We highly recommend it for it's authentic Indian food run by Indians with Indian chefs and Indian waiting staff.

Amazing high quality authentic Indian food We sampled the delicious food here twice during our visit to Phnom Pehm. Once as a takeaway and once in the restaurant. We would definitely recommend eating in the restaurant to enjoy the full experience of this amazing food! Its fantastic! Extremely friendly staff who make you feel very welcome! The food is exceptional. Vegetarians are spoilt for choice here too which was great for us. Too many fantastic dishes to choose from actually.... I doubt you will find better Indian food than this anywhere else in this city, or even Cambodia.... If you like Indian food, a visit here is essential.
