We went for a drink and food after a long hot day in Phnom Penh.
We had a cocktail each (delicious) which was part of a gin launch they were running that night. The only disconcerting thing was that the launch team were drinking beer and red wine, not the gin they were supposed to be promoting🤔
We also had the tasting tray of beers. Oddly, they came in two different sizes of glasses - the smaller size glasses for me, the larger ones for my wife. Weird.
However the beer was good - the Khmer honey beer and the American pale ale were very good. The jasmine beer was nice but the jasmine taste was too much for my wife (I drank hers).
We had fish tacos and the Lok lak (Cambodian peppered beef) fajitas. Both were good but in reality just one dish would have been enough for us - the portions are generous.
The whole bill (2 cocktails, 2 flights of beer, 2 dishes) came to $32.
Entertainment was provided by a guitar duo. It looks like they are set up for regular live music. The balance was good - not so loud that you couldn't talk. Good selection of songs (soft rock, blue eyed soul mainly) which worked well in the garden part of the bar.
Great staff - they brought over insect repellent sprays when they saw I was wearing shorts.
We had a lovely time and...
Read moreTrying to have a couple beers at a place recommended by several colleagues who work here in Phnoh Penh. It was early, so I sit at the bar. Slowly a table behind me fills with middle and older American's who like to spout off about COVID wasn't real, the big "hoax", how it was used to determine how the govt could control people, etc. Speaking for someone who wasn't able to see loved ones for months/years because of this, I'd say it wasn't a hoax and losing friends to death, it also wasn't a hoax. Keep your ultra conservative thoughts in a back room where it belongs.
Turns out one of these guys was one of the part owners of the place. Will never drink here again. Plenty of other places to get beer, and honestly much better beer, than this place. You lost a customer from your antics, and I'll be sure to share with my colleagues who recommended your place, I'm certain they won't...
Read moreWent there on the recommendation of a famous guide book. The place in itself is really nice, very soothing and green. Beers were good and service very friendly and attentive. There's a lot of choice and you get to try before you order if you wisj. However, this doesn't justify the prices in my opinion. Sure, it's a hype and touristy area, but come on, it's more expensive than where I live! (Berlin, Germany). Also, maybe it was too early or this is how it is during weekdays, but it was rather empty with no ambiance. If that's of importance: they accept card. I haven't tried the food. Overall, I'd say go for it if your porte monnaie allows and if you're looking for a quiet place to drink a...
