This is a great atmospheric location with retro brickwork arches and pillars and a relaxing vibe. Good Cambodian coffee and a great selection of cakes and pastries. Highly recommend. Brown Coffee is a successful and beloved coffee chain in Cambodia, founded in 2009 by Sokun Serey, a local entrepreneur who saw an opportunity to create a high-quality, homegrown coffee brand in a market dominated by international chains. Initially, Cambodia’s coffee culture was emerging, with many people preferring traditional drinks. Brown Coffee’s first store in Phnom Penh focused on offering a range of beverages and a cozy atmosphere, emphasizing quality and customer service.
The chain quickly expanded across Cambodia, focusing on local sourcing of coffee beans, especially from regions like Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri, supporting the local coffee industry. Its modern, trendy aesthetic appealed to young professionals and students, positioning its cafés as social spaces for working and gathering.
Brown Coffee has played a significant role in shaping Cambodia’s coffee culture, helping introduce specialty coffee to the market and inspiring other local coffee businesses. It has also contributed to the industry by offering barista training and promoting coffee craftsmanship.

Read moreBrown Coffee Shop is a chain of upmarket coffee shops. They are architecturally pleasing and modern from a stand point of interior design. They are also expensive. The average coffee price being USD 3.50. Each is located at a point of interest in Phnom Penh. They serve a variety of fairly non descript snacks. This could be greatly improved if they took advice from a coffee shop expert. The coffee they serve is acceptable but not good. It is also served in paper cups which makes it no better than Starbucks which has better snacks. Typically the clientele are people using it as a work location or better off Cambodians and a few expats. It would be nice to see something like Mondulkiri coffee, a Cambodian coffee, served there as it...
Read moreWe stopped here for our first drinks after we landed in Cambodia. It is a very spacious modern café with air condition and WiFi. There is also an outdoor seating area with table umbrellas as well as good amount of shade provided by the treetop. The cashier spoke pretty good English where ordering was not an issue. He also helped us with the currency conversion as well. We got an Iced Brown Latte and Passion Fruit Smoothie. Both drinks were amazing! One unique aspect of our visit, we saw several monkeys approaching the outdoor seating area and on the treetops. That made this a fun first stop...
