Sisowath Riverside Park is a must-visit destination located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The park offers an excellent escape from the bustling city life and provides visitors with a serene environment to relax and enjoy nature. The park is beautifully landscaped, with well-manicured lawns, trees, and gardens. Along the riverfront, it provides a breathtaking view of the Tonle Sap River, a major tributary of the Mekong River. Visitors can take a stroll on the wide promenade along the river, where they can watch boats, ferries, and ships pass by. There are also various benches and seating areas for visitors to sit and admire the view. Apart from the scenic views, Sisowath Riverside Park also has plenty of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy. There are playgrounds for children, outdoor exercise equipment, and bike rentals available. Visitors can also try local street food from the various vendors selling snacks and drinks around the park. Overall, Sisowath Riverside Park is a lovely place to spend an afternoon or evening when in Phnom Penh. Whether you want to relax and unwind or have some fun with friends and family, this park has something for everyone.

I used to visit this place many times and have enough experience to recommend to other people. The best time to go there are early in the morning during sunrise and evening during sunset. With a good view, fresh air and have many activities to do such as walking a long the river on the side walk, do exercise with the gear that provided, ride bicycle and especially you can take a boat to other side of the river and you will see the beautiful city with colorful light in the night time and the busy traffic. More than that you also can have a drink and food at the restaurants near the riverside that provide the good service and also friendly with the customers. With the crowed people and busy traffic in the evening, you need to be careful to make sure that you are safe. As we know that it is a famous place, so transportations are not the problem. At there have all type of transportations for local people and foreigner visitors such as taxi, moto, bicycle, city bus, grab, pass app and Tuk-Tuk. I highly recommend this place to you when you have time or when you have an opportunity to visit Cambodia.

On our first visit we went by tuktuk iin the evening and the whole place was alive with hordes of people enjoying street snacks, shopping (there is a night market across the road), socialising, walking and enjoying the cooling breeze. It was too overcrowded for us and so we decided to have a tuktuk drive along the quay (heavy traffic and very polluted as well as dusty due to construction work). The views from the quay of the Royal Palace, the Wat Phnom and the Wat Ounalom, all lit up are breathtaking. Our second visit was mid morning and what a transformation! Very few people, a few worshippers visiting the shrine and the place was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed our leisurely walk. Boats for the Tonle Sap river cruise are accessed from here. We did a one hour cruise. Nothing spectacular. New developments on the opposite bank, view of some of Phnom Pehn's buildings and distressing insight into the plight of the boat people. The traffic plying up and down the river is mainly cargo boats. There are many bars and restaurants offering international cuisine, hotels and few interesting buildings.

For cramped, congested Phnom Penh the Riverside promenade, stretching for a couple of kilometers from the Night Market in the north to the Royal Palace area in the south, literally is a breath of fresh air. Plus you can stroll along on a very wide pavement, unlike most of the city where the chaotic pavements are taken up by parked vehicles and you have to risk walking in the roads dodging the motorbikes, tuk-tuks, cars, SUVs and trucks!! Best to avoid during the heat of the day as limited shade... But head down post 5pm and the place comes alive with locals strolling, playing, chatting, exercising, snacking, drinking etc. Go and explore for a great evening of people watching...

This has been my preferred morning exercise location for years from 2018 to present. It’s best at dawn when you can prepare your camera for shooting beautiful twilights and sunrise. There are traditional fishing boats doing their business. Some boats are fishing, and some start their quick morning session selling activities to locals who exercise along the park. If you can wake up early, the morning visit is more refreshing, and it’s better for scenic photo experience. *Remember to always look around and take care of your belongings (phone, wallets…) especially when you walk alone. Everywhere in the public there are always good and bad people.
