My husband and I decided to have diner at this restaurant based on the Google reviews. When we arrived the restaurant was completely empty, a bit strange but we thought it is a week day so that might be the reason. We ordered drinks, a starter and a main dish. It was very difficult to communicate this order as the English was practically nonexistent, which is not a big deal, we had been traveling through Cambodia for a while (and many other countries) so we were used to it, however this was different, it seems as they did not really want to understand. After a while we only received water (we had to mention again that we ordered cokes) and starter and main came together. Okay, still no problem, the food is most important. And this is where the bottleneck was. It was really not got good. My husband had the fish amok which was tasteless and was surrounded by raw vegetables (and when I say raw I really mean raw), and I had the beef curry, which was more like a soup, also without a flavor. We would have said something but after the struggle we had with ordering (and they sort of disappeared, while there were like 5 of them at the start) we accepted it, eat what we could and left. When I looked back at the reviews it caught my eye that most reviews are from local guides. This might explain the decent score. Or we were...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bakong and was particularly impressed with their offerings. In particular, I ordered their dragon fruit smoothie without sugar, and I must say, it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were balanced and refreshing, making it a delightful treat.
Bakong Restaurant and Cafe's commitment to quality is evident in both their food and beverage options. Their menu boasts a wide range of delectable dishes, and their drinks selection is equally impressive. Read moreThis restaurant was wild. It was extremely beautiful and had a lovely, large menu and the service was great. But oh, this is the first time I have ever had actually gross Khmer curry in Cambodia! Ever! I threw it away after a few bites. It was weird and had no flavor, not just no spice but like nothing, although I liked the fresh herbs. The chicken was gristly and one piece had bone in it and the noodles were seriously overcooked to mush. I am not picky and will eat almost anything, I will eat at 7-11, but maybe just get coffee here? It's a really pretty spot to sit and the staff are pleasant but they really need a new chef.
And it's expensive on top of everything else, although that part would be fine if the food was edible.
Sorry to leave a bad review but wow! I went after tossing it out and got the same kind of curry a block away at a hole in the wall and it was good, like 99% of all...
