We live just down the street from the Sumas location. As it's my boyfriend's birthday tomorrow night, we felt in the mood for dessert.
I open up the box, as presented, and caught a strong wiff of alcohol and fermentation. I cautiously took a small bite of the berries in case it was a compote in wine. It wasn't. It tasted foul and rotten. As you can see, the presentation was horrible too. You can tell by looking at the light purple mauve colour that it was well past it's prime.
I called and was told that they would call back. A minute later I was received a callback saying "I'm not denying your experience but it's fine for us " And I said "It's not though. It's completely rotten. Did you taste it?" And he didn't answer and instead said "I put some strawberries on top". There is not ONE SINGLE strawberry in this dish. And anyone with remotely working taste buds wouldn't mistake strawberries for rotten berries. He then asked what I wanted. Like I was going to grovel for a refund. I said "What did you have in mind?" And he said "You can come down here and we'll exchange it for you." (I should say we had ours delivered by Skipped and they did so promptly). These guys lie about the quality of their food, won't take responsibility for it and don't care to fix it. I simply was calling to advise them that their berries were bad. I wasn't expecting a refund even. The complete disregard and apathy is just unfathomable. How can you care so little!!!??
I had resolved to not dine in as we had a poor experience during a busy breakfast and subscribed to the Bambi principle of just keeping my mouth shut and trusting them only for dessert. But it seems like that is an impossible ask and for good reason that their recent reviews have have been bad.

I bought a few dishes from them many months ago, the customer service is so bad it’s actually unbelievable, sad to say the customer service is something out of a comedy skit.. The staff should be ashamed of themselves, the staff is incompetent (they mess up orders in various ways consistently, forget things, mess up the meals, etc.), they fail to perform the tasks of the job. The impression I got from multiple different times is that the staff is irritated to do what they are hired to do properly. They’re extremely rude and you would honestly think they intentionally provide horrible service so they lose customers so they can work less. The Sumas staff including the management don’t deserve to continue to be employed by Famoso and should seek employment that isn’t in the hospitality industry, I will never buy anything from them again regardless if the staff is fired or not. Read moreThought we would give this a place a try and now wished we hadn’t. Two of us ordered the Mighty Mushroom Burger with fries and the other ordered the 8” Ham and pineapple kid size pizza. The burgers were acceptable although one burger was better seasoned than the other. The fries were on the crisp side. The pizza was inedible. The pineapple was not sweet, the cheese did not seem to be mozzarella, in fact the pizza smelled like vomit. Needless to say the diner nibbled at the crust and left the rest. The bottom of the pizza was covered with black circles. Unfortunately, I thought that a Neapolitan type pizza would be baked in a wood-fired oven. This pizza appeared to be cooked over a gas flame. I also tasted the pizza and agreed that it was inedible. I ordered an iced tea with a piece of lemon. Not quite sure how iced tea can be messed up, but there was zero flavour in the iced tea.
