Boston Pizza — Restaurant in Barrie

Wow. Never again will we go to this location. Our server never introduced herself, never smiled, walked away while we were asking for water, and didn't come to check on us. After being there for an hour and noticing that all the tables around us (groups of 4-6 each) - who all came in after my family of 4 - all had their full meals when we hadn't even been served our appetizer, I went to the hostess to ask for a manager to get our bill for our drinks (3 pops). The kids were hungry, and at this point, any other establishment would have been quicker. I had to ask the hostess for the manager, as our server never came to us. The manager came and was apologetic, and said he would check on our food. The appetizer came out, and he said the kitchen said 6 minutes for our mains, and pleaded with us to stay. Our coats were already on, but now that there was finally food on the table for my kids to eat, we stayed. People at nearby tables also told the manager we were there long before them (and pointed out they had been there so long they had finished their meals and were asking for their bills). When we finished our meals (which did arrive 8 minutes later, so that's appropriate) we had to press the call button on our table to get our server's attention to pay our bill. The bill arrived and it was for the full amount. She dropped it and left, so we couldn't even question it. Terrible service, a forgotten table who had to wait an hour just for the appetizer, while others had full meals, and we didn't even get our pop removed from the bill? Or the appetizer? Where is the apology? Where is the accountability? Where is the incentive to come back? There isn't one. And so for that reason, this family will never step foot in there again, and scream from the rooftops how terrible this location is so others don't have to suffer the...

So my family and I have been going and ordering from this establishment for a few years now and I've got to say it's a bit of a mixed bag for me. If you're eating in the restaurant it's great, and the service is good. The manager is polite and easy to speak with if issues occur. However, anytime I order from home they always seem to forget to put food items (usually fries) in with the order. Now, anytime this happens it usually was the manager who ran the missing food items out and it was always appreciated. But recently this happened again, and this time I was told that they couldn't send out the food that I paid for because there was no delivery driver and whoever was managing that day (different person) told me she couldn't do it and was offered a $5 credit for missing food that was part of a $18 dish (approx. before taxes). I gotta admit it stings to basically be told you're SOL from a place that you go to on special occasions and be told to file a complaint with the delivery service even though it wasn't their fault.

In summary. Good to dine in (because if issues occur they can be resolved quickly), but if you order out and don't receive parts of your food, they try to placate you with a small credit as opposed to the worth of what you actually paid for and didn't receive.

UPDATE Recently, my wife wanted to celebrate her birthday and the food was great, service was great, and they put a birthday candle on her chocolate explosion slice of cake. Environment can get pretty loud for someone with sensitive hearing, but worth it for feeling full after a Meateor pizza. I came here with my boyfriend, and we had a very mediocre experience. After being seated, we waited over 5 minutes to be greeted by our server. Note that it was not very busy in the restaurant. We had just come from a movie so I was very thirsty. Finally, our server came. We ordered a beer, a water, and Bandera bread for an appetizer. After about 7 minutes going by without getting our drinks, I went to the bathroom. I saw our drinks sitting at the bar waiting for the server to bring to our table. The beer had no head so it had likely been sitting there for a few minutes. When I left the bathroom they were still there. We got our appetizer before our drinks. While our server was friendly and apologized, it doesn't make up for the poor service. Both my boyfriend and I used to work at a Boston Pizza so we know the staff expectations and they simply weren't met. The rest of the experience was fine, but it was off to such a bad start that it really put me off. I shouldn't be waiting 20 minutes for a glass of water - even more frustrating to know that it's sitting on the bar ready to go, but nobody could be bothered to bring it to us. Very disappointing.

The food was good. I had a salad that was yummy. Only thing is that I wouldn't recommend the brownie for dessert. It was very cold, as if it had been taken out of a fridge and not heated up. If I wanted a frozen brownie I'd go get one from the grocery store. The rest of the food was great.
