FISH FRAUD! I don't normally write reviews and I respect food service workers enough to not normally speak poorly of them, but this place crossed the line for me. Pathetic service and worse food.

Ordered in Japanese until I realized all staff and ownership is Chinese. As mentioned in other reviews here, the servers are almost comically rude and try to never stop at your table even when asking/signalling to them. When they do finally arrive or bring food, it is tossed down hastily and food/drink spilled onto our table multiple times. About 60% of our orders we did not receive, and after a 3 hour dinner, (over 2 hrs of which just waiting) we all left still feeling hungry but just gave up on receiving the nigiri and other dishes that we submitted requests for multiple times. All you can order, NOT "all you can eat". Our original bill was also much higher as they tried to charge us for the four beers we ordered rather than the single one we received.

What really bugs me the most about my experience here however, was the food. If you like real sushi and appreciate good fresh fish, or want to provide others with a good first experience, DO NOT COME HERE! Instead, go somewhere Japanese-owned and operated. The ビンナガ鮪 that they serve here is not actually Albacore/White Tuna, but rather Snake Mackerel or Escolar which is a disgusting illegal banned fish in Japan due to its extremely high toxicity. Beyond this, the wasabi they use is not wasabi but rather poor-tasting dyed horseradish as it is cheaper. The pickled ginger they use is the cheapest driest type of red dyed ginger. Cheap shouyu and no ponzu or matcha. And their Tai, Hamachi, Maguro and BC tuna are simply NOT! These are all cheap poor quality fish and cuts that Sakana House is hocking off as something they are not. One only needs to look at the colour of their tuna here to understand that this place is doing a disservice to sushi and to the customers who plan to eat here.

I encourage anyone who cares about their stomachs and/or wallets to go somewhere else. No idea how this place has as high reviews as it does... But please ignore them, I wish somebody told me to. I also genuinely encourage Sakana House to stop operations until they figure out how to run a sushi restaurant. If this doesn't happen, I would encourage a health inspector to look just a little more deeply into the "fish" they are serving. Do a bit of research on Snake Mackerel then bite into your nice "White Tuna" and try to tell me this is acceptable...

Walked in and ordered 8 bento boxes to go for my family's birthday dinner celebration. We realized after having soup and salad and started digging into the main teriyaki dish that the meat (salmon, beef and chicken- all 8 into total) didn't have teriyaki sauce. So I had to walk away from my family and guests to make a call to the restaurant. I tried to explain to one of the restaurant staff members who took my call but the person was very rude and dismissive and clearly didn't know how to handle a simple discussion let alone problem solve. She was insisting that they put sauce in the meat and just absolutely non-sensical that the person wildnt even believe me. Why would I or anyone on this earth even spend precious and valuable time to call in to complain over teriyaki sauce if it weren't true? She offered 15% discount on my next order but i said I'd rather get the partial discount on my current payment which was just shy of $150-. I have no intention to return to this restaurant. The manager, Ken, phoned me after about 10 minutes and I had to explain the situation again and his response was even worse and just plain rude. He said he would only refund any of the payment if I returned the food intact. We already ate the appetizer and some of the meat without sauce but ended up not finishing since the food was far from enjoyable. How do you eat teriyaki dish without teriyaki sauce and enjoy it?. I understand that everybody makes mistakes but these individuals particularly the manager named Ken have terrible customer service, lack problem solving skills, have no sense of accountability and just plain ignorant. I would be more understanding if these guys were apologetic and gracious but they're just have terrible attitude. These guys have no business dealing with the public as they haven't learned to be accountable for their actions that impact consumers. For anyone who has had received terrible or sub-par service from this place, have the pride and dignity not to support...

Our server (older lady) was ignorant, rude and constantly hovering around us.

I told her 3 adults and a 6 Yeard old. My 2 sisters and niece were running behind. I started ordering, server came and ask if people are coming. I said yes, they are on their way. My one sister showed up shortly after. Server came back again if more people are coming..I said YES then server went on about we have a big table and people are waiting (looked outside NO line up or anyone waiting) I said they are on their way. 5 mns later my sister and niece showed up. Server came back again and directly asked my niece how old she is.. she politely answered I'm 6 years old. Server walked away

We are enjoying our meal. Server came back again saying we are there longer than we should. We only have 1.5 hrs or 2 hrs. I said excuse me? Server went on about people are waiting for their table. Again LOOKED OUTSIDE NO LINE UP OR ANYONE WAITING for a table.

I asked if the buffet is timed and customers only have 1.5 hrs to eat?she said yes. My sister then said..okay next time will go the other restaurant. Server said oh don't worry you can stay longer (HUH??) We then decided to pay for our meal, server went on about our leftovers (barely any left) she pointed at them saying we order too much and are wasting food and we should pay for them. We said OKAY how much are those? She pointed each one and did a quick math totalled to $7.00 We said OKAY. We paid and left. My sisters and I were unimpressed with our server's attitude and demeanor towards us.

This is my go to sushi place (dine in and take out). I have always recommended this restaurant to family, friends and colleagues. Always bringing in big group of people. Lately I noticed, servers are always rushing you as if the customer are such an inconvenience to them.

Please train your server to be more friendly...

Upon arrival with my wife and children, we were told that we had a table. After asking for high chair and some arguing about the use of a high chair they ushered us to another table! We also paid a service charge of 15% for the server setting us up at another table because they had to set it! Don't order the "Green Dragon" roll mine had a long grey hair in it! When the server came over I pointed out the long nasty hair, she proceeded to call over the owner. She immediately looked around the table and started talking either Cantonese or manderin to her staff. She spoke in english with a nasty tone in her voice and said it wasn't her employees in a very direct, rude, and condescending attitude and walked away. Did i deconstruct a dragon roll and put a rondom hair in it? No it was rolled with the sushi!!! After the hair experience another set of sushi rolls arrived at my table, this time a bug in it. I didnt even bother eating or trying to fight with the staff over this nightmare experience. Our bill was over $100 without any compensation, not that we were looking, or needed a discount! Upon paying our bill, without tip i might add, I had to use the restroom. I walked into the men's restroom and the floor was covered in urine, something you would expect at some gross pub on Dunlop! I'm utterly disappointed in the cleanliness and professionalism at this location. We used to look forward to going to Sakana House for dinner, and we are generally regular customers at least twice a month. We won't be back! Im sure we won't hear from management or the ownership regarding the disaster of a night! I do know a few health inspectors for simcoe County, who will be going to that location to investigate.....

A consistently incredible experience at Sakana, thanks to Mia! Sakana has become our absolute favorite sushi spot, and a huge part of that is due to the consistently amazing service we receive, especially from Mia. Every single time we visit, Mia goes above and beyond to make our dining experience truly special. From her warm greetings to her impeccable recommendations and attentive check-ins, Mia anticipates our needs and ensures everything is perfect. She's incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, always ready with a smile, and just has a knack for making you feel incredibly welcome and valued. It's rare to find such a high level of personalized and genuinely friendly service, and Mia delivers it every time. Of course, the food at Sakana is always fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious, but Mia elevates the entire experience to another level. She's a true gem, and we always look forward to seeing her. If you're looking for an exceptional sushi experience with top-notch service, look no further than Sakana – and be sure to say hello to Mia! She's the best!
