I remembered this place as being one of the better Burrito Shops in town, but it is now definitely one of the worst based on my recent visit.
The employee here must have been trained to be cheap or this is just the new standard company-wide...but I have a hard time justifying the price I paid for my items when the burrito was not much more than a tortilla stuffed with a large scoop of rice and a small selection of additional items. They were very stringent on all other toppings to the point that I couldn't even taste half of them including the sauces. Also, paying an extra $2.00 for the equivalent of one frozen chicken finger chopped up into half a dozen little pieces is not exactly what most people would consider great value and quality.
I also decided to try the new Loaded Waffle Fries they have as a promo item since the picture looked decent and I am always game to try something different. They are advertised as "Perfect for Sharing" and the picture would suggest that as well, but I would suggest that you don't put much weight in that statement. The 5-6 soggy waffle fries laying in the bottom of a paper bowl with a small portion of toppings (along with another $2.00 frozen chicken finger chopped up into half a dozen little pieces) made this one of the most depressing menu items I have ever ordered in any quick service restaurant.
At the end of the day, I paid almost $30 for a poorly wrapped and toasted tortilla filled with an absurd proportion of rice and a few toppings and that paper bowl partly filled with a few sad waffle fries and a very pathetic amount of toppings. Not a good bang for my buck.
Service and Atmosphere were also lacking since the server struggled to communicate in English and she was the only employee in the shop. I realize it is not her fault by any means, but I would recommend that the management team consider having someone who is customer facing be able to communicate clearly with your customers. This language barrier made it difficult to order and awkward to wait as she did not say anything more than what she had to in order to get the food right. I understand why, but the end result was that the service and atmosphere suffered as there was zero personality or small talk from her to help pass the awkward 15 minutes waiting for my burrito. There was no music, TVs, flyers, newspapers, or anything else to distract me from the long wait. So sitting there in an empty, quiet, shop did not make it a pleasant experience. I am no longer surprised that there was nobody around during prime dinner time.
Sorry for the tough love FBBC, but this review needed to be posted. This place used to be a good option, but with the amount of shops in town now, I guarantee there are many...
Read moreI've given these guys so many chances, I don't even know what to say anymore.
My first issue with them was a coworkers burrito. Had ordered without any hot sauce, and arrived with their hottest of sauces. Dude flushed out pretty badly, and while it was a little funny, it ruined the meal for him.
The second issue is when three of us pushed an order. My burrito had the wrong size and wrong toppings, my coworker once again got incorrect toppings, and was given hot sauce. This would mark the last time he ordered from them with us.
The third time, we were kinda running out of options and defaulted to them for lunch again. Once again my burrito arrived incorrectly sized, wrong toppings, and my other coworker got the wrong kind of meat. We phoned this one in, and we were told with very, very little respect that there was no way the burritos were prepared incorrectly, as the person on the phone himself had overseen the operation. He bowed and agreed to resend the order, though was most certainly not polite.
And my final tragic tale is one partially of my own fault. I pushed an online order and got the wrong toppings. Noticing this in my email, I called the location multiple times, to no answer. I contacted support for just eat, and told them of the issue. They confirmed the telephone number, and I was still unsuccessful with the order. We agreed that cancelling the transaction would be the best idea.
About 45 minutes later I receive a phone call from the store informing me that my burrito was odd, and asking if I would like any toppings. The order was going to be prepared that long after the order was placed. Little nuts.
This place is really good in person, the food is really good for the price, and I'm never let down when I'm in the building making the order, which is why I'll give two stars. Order online and you have my best of luck. Orders show up incorrectly, very late, and the store is not exactly attentive in fixing any issues. I think I'll stop ordering from them after this time.
Edit a few months later; my sister and her husband just got food poisoning while in person. One star. This place has lost any semblance of what it use to be. If I could give no stars, I would.
If the owner would like to explain what happened to the standards of this place, would be very interested to hear. Please get on your employees. This is beyond acceptable...
Read moreI thought I was fortunate to go there at noon today, a Sunday, because nobody was there. Now I know why.
I first tried Fat Bastard Burrito in North York a couple weeks ago and had a wonderful experience. Noodles, crumbled chips, a well made burrito...I had a 5 star experience. So today I decided to have it again for lunch and went to the north barrie location. Dissapointment doesn't cover the experience. First off, the place is dirty. They have red glossy counters and you can see hand prints all over the counters and food scraps where peoppe previously ate so its not being cleaned. Then the food. No chips to crumble, no noodles and no hot sauces were available to put in my food. Fine, whatever. I took it home to eat bc I didn't want to eat there and catch something. The taste, subpar. I was dissapointed in how it tasted so I added my own hot sauce to give it some flavor. When I got to the end of the burrito the bottom was soggy and wet so I had to throw it away. I will never go to this location again. Honestly, it needs to just be shut down because the comparison with the location I went to in North York was night and day. I paid about 21 dollars for this and it's ruined the image I had of this franchise.
So basically, if you want to have a good burrito from fat bastard then drive to the city (or maybe the south barrie location as I haven't been there so I cant speak about them) and avoid this location like the plague. The owner should be...
