I will update this review if I get any traction from the management. UPDATE#2: Positive Progress. So, after several months I came back to Flying Monkeys and was was very happy when I was able to order my favorite chicken wings and a salad on the side

UPDATE #1: Thank you to the management of Flying Monkeys that you still keep an eye on the reviews and for continuing to learn (as we all do throughout our lives). One star is upgraded to two stars. I will definitely stop by again to have a chance to upgrade this review to five stars as it is unfair to leave a review based on one disappointing visit despite many previous positive visits.

ORIGINAL REVIEW I little prelude story: when I was in Istanbul, Turkey and asked for an item at a restaurant that they didn't have (I believe it was some sort of an ice cream), the server ran over to a store across the street and bought me the item that I wanted. This is called CUSTOMER SERVICE that deserves tips!

Back to Flying Monkeys:

They have nice entourage and interior and they learned how to brew decent beer (although far from European quality but better than many in Simcoe County. Their food is decent but not great.

I am a loyal customer who works around the corner and spends at least about $50 per week at this place usually coming there for lunch. I enjoy being there due to several things being decent (entourage and customer service) and beer being better than most as I mentioned before. I always generously tip the staff appreciating their hard work.

One day I asked to substitute fries that comes with wings with salad, which was done (I didn't event think it was something out of ordinary, just wanted a healthier option on the side).

When I came the following week, I was told by the server and apparently her supervisor (although he didn't tell me who he was) that it was impossible to replace fries with the salad. I still cannot comprehend why they can't dump a spoon of salad and add balsamic sauce instead of frying and putting fries.

I don't understand why a decent place after becoming relatively busy abandons the main law of business: "customer is always right" (as long as they don't behave inappropriately)?

During a conversation with the so-called supervisor and after suggesting him a few options to address my concerns (i.e. let me buy a separate side salad) he told me that it was impossible unless I buy a full portion which is a huge separate item on the menu.

At this point I realize that Flying Monkeys' approach is that the customer eats what we tell them to eat! Compare that with my experience in Istanbul!

Anyway, if I am left disappointed and not happy with customer service, I don't think I should tip the organization/people that made my stay unpleasant. I am still paying for items I purchased. I ended up leaving nominal tips showing my disappointment because it was too loud to explain my position to the server and she was not too interested to listen to me in any event.

Long story short, one star is for what I heard about myself when the server and her manager discussed me after I had paid the bill. Instead of asking themselves what went wrong and thinking that they could ask me for feedback they just exchanged a few words describing me in a derogatory form. I just happened to seat at the table where all servers gather in front of the kitchen entrance and I just happen to have good hearing.

Very disappointing visit to this place....far from my Istanbul experience (although I never expect that from...

I recently discovered Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery in Barrie during a casual family walk last Sunday and I must say it turned out to be one of the best experiences I've had since moving to the area. This brewery deserves a glowing 5-star review for its incredible vibe, attention to detail, and overall excellence.

The moment I stepped inside Flying Monkeys, I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere. The place exudes a cool and vibrant vibe, creating a welcoming and energetic ambiance. The attention to detail in the brewery's design and decor is impressive, adding to the overall charm of the space.

Let's talk about the beer selection—it's fantastic! Flying Monkeys offers a wide variety of craft beers, each with its unique flavor profile and character. Whether you're a fan of hoppy IPAs, rich stouts, or refreshing ales, you're sure to find something that suits your taste buds. The quality and craftsmanship of their beers are truly top-notch.

But it doesn't stop there—the food at Flying Monkeys is equally impressive. They offer a delicious menu that complements their beer selection perfectly. From tasty appetizers to mouthwatering main courses, the food here is crafted with care and made to satisfy. It's the ideal combination for a satisfying and memorable dining experience.

In my opinion, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery outshines its closest competition, Beertown. The overall experience at Flying Monkeys surpasses expectations, delivering a delightful evening out. While it may not cater to those seeking a more sophisticated atmosphere, for a general night out, it hits all the right notes.

I can't say enough positive things about Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery. Anticipate this will quickly become a go-to spot for me my family, and when friends come to visit from out of town. Whether you're a beer enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and enjoyable night out, this place checks all the boxes. From its exceptional beer selection and delicious food to its incredible vibe and attention to detail, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery is a must try...

I have frequented this brewery many times as it has a vibrant atmosphere and many great tasting brews. Unfortunately my last visit on Friday night November 20th left a bad taste in my mouth.

My friends and I arrived and we're told there was one table ahead of us and there would be a short wait outside and heated patio period space it was a brisk night but being easy going lads we didn't mind at all and took a seat outside. After a short time a seemingly unhappy female staff member came outside and asked that a group of six split into two groups of three and takes separate tables. Space although we couldn't hang together we complied and gave her our drink order and only asked if she could turn on the heat lamp at the second table. During the current covid-19 restrictions at the time we weren't breaking any rules with six guys at one table but we did what she asked as we all like the bar and wanted to eventually get inside out of the cold.

When our server came back 5 minutes later she brought a manager saying we had to leave. We never gave her attitude at any point. We were compliant and only wanted to share a few beers to celebrate an upcoming wedding. We also at no point gave her a hard time and only asked of her what she was being paid to do. We were sober and polite and just wanted to pretend the world wasn't going crazy for one evening. I'm writing this not to bash the brewery but to underline the fact that we weren't given the opportunity to support a local business through already trying times. Hoping to change this review but have...

I’m a huge flying monkey beer lover and was in Barrie yesterday so what better opportunity to visit its brewery / restaurant . We arrived and ordered some great beers and food. Beers were delicious and food was great. When our food came we were asked if we needed anything else , I asked for some hot sauce for my fries ( always add a little hot sauce to my ketchup ) no problem said the server. Our bill came 116 , I then went in and bought some FM merch & some beer to take home that was another 25 bucks. So all in I spent around 160 with tip. Today I was looking over my bill as I wanted to know the name of one of the the beer I had and noticed I was changed 50 cents for the hot sauce. Are you kidding me , so you just add things to the bill without informing your customers? If I asked for salt & pepper or vinegar wound I also have been charged ? Come on FM , be upfront and inform your customer of this. If someone asks for an item let them know there’s an up charge . I should have been told ā€œno problem on the hot sauce sir but just want to let you know there’s a 50 cents charge for it ā€œ . This might seem trivial but really has made me think about if I’d ever go back to this establishment again. I love their beers but come on FM 50 cents for some hot sauce and to not even tell me there is a cost. UPDATE *********** Hey FM , sent an email to the address you listed on Aug 6 and guess what no reply back after 6 days . I’m even more disappointed

What looked to be a great place for a drink with friends on a Friday and started as an epic experience, was ruined by the end of the evening. The menu is well thought out and made with attention to detail. You can tell the owners care about food. Italian wedding soup and a charcuterie board loaded with local goodies shouts foodie culture. Where this experience went sideways was in the hospitality. We (group of 6 friends) were notified that the kitchen was closing and the waitress took our food orders. Shortly after being given the food, we were brought our bills claiming that they needed to settle the till before close. We were ensured that we could stay longer and it didn't mean we had to leave. I left a generous tip at that point. Shortly after taking payment the full lights were turned on and the music was turned off. Our drinks were still in our glasses and our food was still barely touched. Please don't call yourself hosts or hospitality when this occurs in your establishment. To bad, this bar seemed like it had the right ingredients to creating a great community atmosphere. I guess the beer to the moon was a homage to their great past, and not a bright future. Corporate greed kills culture! Please review your core values when hiring. Hospitality = hospitable. If you want to go to bed early, get a day job.

LET ME JUST SAY THIS; FANTASTIC, fabulous, amazing, phenomenal, über cool!!! This brewery was all we had hoped for & then some. Super impressed. It is the coolest joint in Barrie, FOR SURE! The atmosphere is top notch wicked. There is no way of one getting bored as floor to walk to ceiling is decked with all bright & fancies. The food...DELICIOUS. So yummy & perfectly priced. The on tap selection is out of this world. Flying Monkeys 🐵 have nailed it! Our customer service was so kind & sweet. We were impressed. We brought our 9 year old daughter & even she was blown away by how cool this brewery was. We didn’t take a tour, this time, BUT we certainly will drive back (2 hours from home) to do a tour & take it all in again. If you are thinking of visiting this place, stop thinking & GO! So worth it. DID I MENTION, my FAVOURITE brew of all time is ā€œ12 Minutes to Destinyā€ ...well it is & has been for a long while now. Part of the reason we made a detour on our way home, just to drive a bit further from our original destination. HAD to check it out & so glad we did. The hibiscus 🌺 raspberry brew is divine & honestly tasted hella yum straight from the tap. My husband enjoyed the 4 stouts on tap, I stuck with the fruity hops but for the pumpkin šŸŽƒ which we both loved! Our daughter really like her root beer. Until next time!
