Thursday, March 26, 2025. I was greeted very cordially and given a choice of booth or bar even though I was alone. I was then served shortly after and ordered a Coke, cheeseburger and the brownie dessert. Everything was done in a kind, quick and careful manner. Ish, who I believe was in training, was very good at taking my order, bringing my food in a timely matter and checking in with me once in a while to make sure I was OK. I hope she got 100% of the 22% tip I gave as her trainer was hardly ever with her when she came to the table. She did come at the very end when I was being served the bill and asked me if everything was all right. And for the most part, everything was all right, except for the price I paid for the amount of food I received. Don’t get me wrong. The soda, burger and dessert were very good. However, I believe I can get more and pay less at Kelsey‘s and Swiss chalet. Price of Food: 2/5 stars
It has been years since I have been to a Jack Astor’s as I was never impressed by the flashing sign showing Jack As*s, so I hesitated to come after my one and only visit. However, Thursday, as I was on my way to a weekly Bible Study, I thought I was looking at a new restaurant called Jack and thought I would check it out. The service I received made it well worth it, however, the price makes me hesitate a great deal when I think...
Read moreI arrived on a Thursday, just before 5pm. We were seated immediately. About 5 mins after we were seated another couple arrives and was seated across from us. A few minutes later, that couple gets greeted and served. I waited about 15 minutes to go back to the host to let her know that no one has greeted us. She told me ok, and went to the back. We waited a few more minutes. Then I notice a difference greeter in the front. Still, no one greeted us at our table. I go back to the front to tell the new hostess and then I see the first hostess with her coat on. She did not notify anyone to come to our table. She tells me to wait a minute. Then I see a server and ask him for the manager. He tells me he is the lead and that he can help. So, he finally ensures a waiter comes to our table. My guest expresses to the waiter how unhappy she is that we had to wait 20 mins. His reply - it's busy. Seriously?!?!? He served people who arrived after us and didn't look once towards us. Also, it wasn't busy. That was not an acceptable response. Anyway, the manager did comp our appetizer. The other couple already had their food before we were even greeted by the waiter. I ordered the pink gin Fizz. It was refreshing. It was light on alcohol. The lobster and crab dip was tasty. It tasted better with the pita bread than the chips. It comes with both. The chicken tacos were really tasty. I highly recommend it. The new chicken linguine was ok. I won't order that again. I haven't been to jack Astor's in over 3 years and it wasn't the best experience. I was surprised the manager couldn't bother to come up to us...
Read moreIf you grew up in Brampton during the 2005/2010s, this was the place to go. Your friends were working there, you’d grab a bite to eat, enjoy the games and the atmosphere was awesome. Jack Astors in its prime! Fast forward to the year 2024.. what happened? The last time I’ve been to this location was probably 2013? But wow, no lollipops? Bummer. They renovated the bar area, kinda miss the old style.. but it is what it is. So my friend and I ordered the following:
Loaded veggie nachos for a whopping $25.47. These nachos were actually pretty bad, you can definitely make some better ones at home. Where is the cheese pull? Barely any cheese! On top of that, where is the nacho cheese sauce? It says it on the menu! Very disappointing. Low quality tortilla chips as well. Can’t forget the sour cream! Horrible. Why is it so thick? I remember jacks having good sour cream and even better nachos. Cost cutting at its finest. What a joke. You know, ever since jacks lost the iconic donkey.. it’s been down hill. The rebranding didn’t help.
Lobster & Crab Dip - $20.83.. where was the lobster and crab? Should just call it a mushroom dip. Very disappointing. This was never a dish I would order, but my friend wanted to get it. I would say it was probably better than the nachos, which doesn’t say much.
I remember jacks being this fun place with cool pictures on the wall and a great place to have a birthday. The only thing that was good about this visit was our sever, she was great. Really went above and beyond. Not much...
