On Tuesday November 4th 2025 I left my home near Wasaga Beach, Ontario to attend a medical appointment in Brampton. Since my appointment would be done by noon, I decided to invite my elderly sister, who lives in Brampton, out for lunch. I don't see her often so I thought it would be nice to treat her to lunch at a place I've heard about but never had the chance to go until today. Tonino's.
After leaving my appointment we arrived at Tonino's at approximately 11:30 a.m. We walked into the restaurant and saw people working in the back kitchen area. We were greeted with unwelcome stares and glances and then we were slapped with a tornado. A lady came from the kitchen shouting, "We're closed!" and opened her arms to us, not to invite us in but to push us out. She didn't physically push us out but more herded us like cattle to push us out the front door. I had looked up the hours before going there and saw that it was open from 11:00 a.m. daily. I told her that the website and Google Maps both say open at 11:00 a.m. to which she replied, "well that's not my responsibility". We were told "we're closed, we're working on a school order and we'll be ready by 12:30pm maybe". As she continued pushing us out the door. We asked why the door was unlocked if they're closed until 12:30pm and where is the signage that said open at 12:30pm. She didn't like that and kept escorting us out saying that she didn't know who left the door open and repeatedly stated that they are closed. I walked out and my sister stayed back to ask questions but the woman didn't want any part of it. She then asked "What's wrong with your friend?" Really? She slammed the door and locked it behind us. Actions speak louder than words and her actions were completely uncalled for. She could have simply stated, "I'm sorry the restaurant doesn't open until 12:30pm maybe on a Tuesday or I will have our computer guy correct that on the website thank you for bringing it to our attention or something along those lines.
As we got into my vehicle another customer tried to open the door and we told him that they are closed. He said, "but they open early" and we told him what we were told that they are closed until "12:30pm maybe".
Both of us from Italian descent, walking into an Italian establishment and never leaving without spending less than $100 is your loss and not ours. If this woman was working for me she would get seriously reprimanded for the way she treated her customers. If this woman is the owner then she should be completely ashamed of herself and embarrassed and perhaps think about pursuing a different line of work where she does not have to deal with the public. It was a 2 hour drive there and 2 hour drive back. I am not well so I always get enough to feed my family when I get home because I'm so tired. Again, your loss.
In all my life I have never been greeted with such hostility upon entering any establishment. Most of my Google reviews are positive reviews because of the food or the quality of service or just the general atmosphere but this review has received my lowest score to date. Not only am I disappointed that I was unable to try your veal sandwiches that everyone seems to enjoy but I left feeling shocked and angry at the sheer audacity she had with her hostile nature. I never did get my veal sandwich but i did get a FREE side order of hostility. I will definitely NOT return here, nor...
Read moreJust wanted to share my experience that pushed me to the final straw. Been in in Brampton now 2 years and been going to this restaurant on a regular basis. And probably all the 40 to 50 times that I've ordered. My order was not once correct. Things were made wrong things were forgotten etc. I always did let them know but it was never a big deal people make mistakes. I went in last night and I placed an order to go and A veal sandwich to stay I was talking on the phone and I guess everybody thought that I wasn't paying attention. I asked for a veal with no sauce and they were about to give me a veal with sauce which is not a big deal I heard them say discreetly they'll fix it. Not exactly sure 100% what they did but I know that they re-washed it and refried it and served me a veal dipped in oil thinking that it was OK. I wish to God I took a picture of it. the oil was dripping off the veal and soaked in the bread and there was oil all over the plate. I had then brought it back and said how do you expect me to eat this you might as well serve it with a cup of oil for me to drink. all the cooks in the back which were young kids were looking at me like I was a messed up customer. So I watch them prepare my food the hostess asked me to have a seat and I said no I making sure that my food is made properly and without spit. They were all talking amongst each other in the back and then they came to the front and said we ran out of buns we can give you the same one we used for the previous veal. That for me was the last straw I will never go back there again. What the hell kind of customer service is that! I spent hundreds of dollars at this place since I lived in Brampton and this is the type of customer service the young generation offers...
Read moreCLIENTS BE AWARE. I dined at this restaurant today. It wasn’t the first time, but might be the last. The food was excellent, as usual; However, when the bill was brought to our table, I noticed that the price of the salad was more expensive than the menu read. I brought it up to the server, obviously thinking that there was an error that she would fix. To my surprise, she casually told me that she didn’t go by the price listed in the menu, but by the price she got from her system when she punched in the order. Sorry! She said and she proceed to charge the higher price. I told her that this was wrong and that she should honour the prices listed on the menu. She then agreed to charge the correct price and when she came back to our table with the new bill, a second server got involved defending their policy. She said their prices fluctuate regularly and that they cannot print new menus all the time. I suggested they verbally informed clients of the real pricing of their food at the time they place their order. She walked away saying “ it’s only $2”. My reasoning is that if they take $2 or $5 or $10 from every client using this excuse, at the end of a month they might be pocketing a substantial amount of money. THIS PRACTICE IS DESPICABLE, IT IS 100% WRONG! My recommendation to other clients is to ask for the cost of your food when order. Protect yourself from this people who seem to disregard their client’s basic right to know the price of what they...
