Jo's Italian Deli — Restaurant in British Columbia

I should start off by saying, I’ve always enjoyed eating here, the food is great, probably one the best in the area.

That said, I recently stopped by for take out, and while I waited I began to notice how nasty the restaurant was. It was like the more you look around the worse it gets.

The main thing was the front deli fridge as it doesn’t look to be functioning properly with all the condensation build up. I noticed that along the sides and on the counter top they have used the wrong finish materials, simply using fibreboard material/mouldings that have began to break down & get moldy from the moisture issues. The second big issue is the build up around the ceiling vents/fans, looks like dirt, but from the staining could also be black mold.

I don’t write this review to be rude, or pick apart the place. I truly enjoy it, and would come back. But this place needs to address these cleanliness issues before I would return, as it’s not a food safe...

Very disappointing. We have been coming here since he opened. Was always a great place. Great food, smiles, lots of product to buy. Now, how things have changed. The portions are much smaller, no more Parmesan cheese on the pasta! We arrived to take out spaghetti and meatballs. Noticed that the shelves were half full, not merchandised well at all. The place was dirty! Our order was ready and sat there for over 5 minutes until the girl in back came out and asked the counter girl if this was our order? Oh yeah she says. We get home and the bread was not edible! Hard as a rock! Where is the quality? Since the owner opened up another store and isn’t there, you can tell! As you can see, we loved the spaghetti but the bread was not fit to sell. How could you serve this to paying customers?? After many years, we won’t be back! Too bad, it used to be the best, now, not worth...

Our family tried Jo's Italian deli for the first time. We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and Italian both large size .The flavor was delicious, lots of toppings, my only complaint is the sandwich bread is that hard crusty style that sort of hurts the mouth , my kids had a harder time biting into it . We also ordered the spaghetti and the pesto gnocchi both were simple but good flavor ,not amazing but not disappointing . I ordered some extra garlic bread and was surprised as to me its more of a thick focaccia style not very much garlic flavour. It is not the typical soft buttery garlic bread you might expect so depending on what kind of bread you prefer you may like their garlic bread more or less. So over all a good experience and you can tell the products used are good quality, however the bread let us down as it was more dry and a lot was not...
