We found this place back in the spring and had one of the most exquisite Indian meals of my life. Everything was perfect, including the service. We had been back about 2 or 3 times after and it remained excellent. This time not so much. We were seated and from here is when it started going downhillâour appetizer took 15 min and thatâs long for a cold app. It also didnât look anything like the photo on the menu. After that, we ordered the Chicken Tikka, which was incredible the last few times we were there. This time the dish was completely different, the chicken was tough and chewy and not charred at all. They had cooked lettuce with shredded carrot on top with some pickled onion which was still raw and clearly not picked enough. After this we had the Butter chicken and chicken biryani. The butter chicken was tasty but they seemed to have forgotten the chicken. It only had 6 chunks of white meat, which seemed to be just added to the sauce and not cooked in he sauce at all. They usually garnish it with some lovely sliced onion, cilantro and a swirl of cream. this time it was only the cream. The chicken byriani was again very sparse on meat. So sparse that they served us lamb mixed with the chicken. I guess they ran out and didnât think we would notice. The Naan was less then spectacular. It was undercooked and chewy. We couldnât even taste the garlic. The service was less than usual too. Our entree plates were left on the table after they brought next course plates out. We just moved them to the side. We sat and watched other customers who came in after us get their food sooner. We had to ask for more water, then the left the empty bottle on the table. Our server brought the visa machine over, dropped it on the table and never came back. I could go on but I wonât. I have been a chef for over 40 years and have eaten in many many restaurants, Iâve been a consultant and owner of my own restaurants and have opened many for others for people, all I have to say is that if your good enough to be rated one of the best of Burlington then you shouldnât let that go to you head. You should push and keep being the best year after year. You name is your brand and if you let that go because of one award. People will start to notice. Sad to see this place take such a...
Read moreVisited here today on the way back from Niagara Falls. While there were a ton of Indian restaurants near the falls we had a late lunch and weren't really hungry do we decided to start the return journey and catch a bite on the way home. And what a decision that turned out to be! Google suggested a bunch of Indian places near Burlington, but the reviews led to decide on the Prince of India. Located in an unassuming mall in Burlington, you'll think nothing of this place. But once you step in, you're transported into and amazing ambiance which is a mix of a bar, a typical North American decor and a roadside Indian upscale dhabha at the same time. So many things hit you at once that you've no option but to fall in love with the place.
But enough about this stuff and on to the most important part. The food. There are literally tons of options to choose from, both veg and non veg. We ordered Punjabi Bhuna Chicken which was lip smackingly awesome. The chicken was cooked to perfection while the gravy pushed the limits of perfection. Cannot describe it further. The veg option we chose was Kadhai Paneer which was excellent. The paneer was soft and tasty while the gravy was a mixture of tangy and spicy which complemented the paneer excellently. Last but not the least, the naan was soft and exceptional. And without a doubt the mango lassi was spot on.
And a shout-out to our server Jot. He helped us choose the dishes and his service was spot on.
Needless to say, we'll be visiting again. This was one of the best culinary experiences we had since moving to Canada and we really want to thank...
Read moreFound this in a middle of a road trip because we were starving, and we were all pleasantly surprised. Normally Indian restaurants are a hit or miss for my family because we're quite critical of the food. This place surpassed our expectations. Food was delicious, serving size was large, curry wasn't oily or watery as they at other places, and price is quite fair. I will mention that they did mention a buffet option online but that wasn't available when we walked in. Not sure if they stopped or it's available during certain times/days of the weeks.
Keep in mind that it seems everything is cooked fresh to order, so expect to wait at least 20 mins for your food. But the wait it worth it.
We ordered the butter chicken, lamb madras, and their peshawari naan alongside their butter naan. Everything was 10/10. For those who don't know or with allergies, lamb madras is cooked in coconut milk and peshawari naan contains cashews, dried fruits, and coconut. Butter chicken is nut free.
I went in a group of 5 and we couldn't finish everything. A lot more food than you'd expect. Bill came to just under $15 per person, including tip.
The ambiance gets 10/10. Beautifully decorated. This place is also super clean; one of the cleaniest restaurants I've ever been to. The bathroom is the cleaniest I've ever seen for an Indian restaurant. That was brownie points.
Even though it's quite a distance from where I live, this restaurant has made a place for us for special occasions. We will definitely...
