Bubble Waffle Café — Restaurant in Burnaby

I would give a minus star if I can. This morning I had experienced the most racist and disgusting service I have ever had. The server was also an Asian but she gave a different treatment to a Caucasian and shunned her own Asian customers.

I was there in the foodcourt around 10 am Wed morning ( lunar new year day). My first time to this food court in Brentwood mall. Before me a young and hip customer tried to order egg waffle and was told not available, another young fellow asked, answer was also no. Then I tried to order and same answer no, I even joked about perhaps still too early ( after 10 am already) so I ordered chicken wings instead. The price on the order sheet was erased so I had no idea how much it costs for three wings. By the time I paid for my coffee and 3 chicken wings, it totalled $13.95 and the wings cost me more than $9.

As soon as I paid and walked to the side waiting, a Caucasian guy after me tried to order egg waffle as well but the same server who told me not available , TOOK his order and said it will be ready in ten minutes. I was not 100% sure what I heard so I decided to stay there to see if he really ordered egg waffle and also waited for my order. I waited and waited, sure enough the guy got his egg waffle !!! but my three freaking chicken wings were still not ready!!!

I was very upset and confronted the server, why did she offer the egg waffle to the man and not the rest of us. He placed his order just a few seconds after me. Besides he came after the three of us and yet he walked away first with the egg waffle while the rest of us were still waiting for our orders.

I challenged the server for being racist and discriminated against her own people. She was visibly upset but speechless. First she had the nerve to ask if I wanted to order egg waffle now. I just asked for the refund for the wings but paid for the coffee which turned out to be lukewarm coz their wings took too long to fry but the coffee had been sitting on the counter the whole time and I had to throw out the coffee. Absolutely horrific customer service from their manager. My wife ordered their rice rolls and specified she had a peanut allergy. They informed her that there is sesame sauce, which she is okay with. She has had rice rolls with sesame sauce at the Alberta Bubble Waffle Cafes and other establishments that serve the same dish without any issues. As soon as she took a few bites, she noticed immediately that she was having a reaction. Thank goodness we had her epipen and allergy medicine on hand to handle it. I informed the manager of our issue and to see if we could receive compensation or anything as the dish was no longer something we could eat. Instead, she just told me that there was nothing she could do, so I left the dish there to tend to my wife. After several minutes the manager came to find us in the food court and gave the dish back to us and told us it's our personal belonging now and made a scene with her escalating her voice as we informed her that my wife is having a hard time breathing and in front of our 9 month year old daughter. She couldn't even do us the curtosity of throwing it away for us but instead she gave back the dish knowing my wife is allergic too. She kept trying to justify herself that there was no mistake on her end. We had to ask her to leave numerous times until she finally left as it was no longer something we could deal with since we were trying to avoid my wife's symptoms from worsening and having to...

I've been to many bubble waffle so when I went for lunch at the first time at Brentwood mall, I choose this outlet above ask the others.

Knowing that I can get a satisfying warm bowl of noodles, a waffle and drink for good value.

I took my order for take out by sat down to eat my noodles first. I noticed that my noodles were very overdone. Nonetheless, I was excited for the broth and chicken I saw. As I added in the hot broth and began to eat, I staryed to search for the egg, fish cake, Tofu and bean sprouts. I was only able to find cabbage, chicken one piece of bean curd. What happened Bubble Waffle? This isn't Laksa, it's red coconut broth chicken soup. What a disappointment!

Also, not a fresh waffle. This is beginning to be a standard at these locations. I have to go all the way to the OG on Aberdeen Mall in Richmond to get a fresh waffle. Knowing now this company skimps on ingredients because of rising costs is definitely going to make me think twice next time.

Don't put waffle in the name if it's not going to be fresh. It's more like Honolulu Cafe now. 2 stars because the lemon tea is the only thing that...
