The Bao Place — Restaurant in Burnaby

Food is delicious, but they have marked it as double the price that it should be. Baos are addicting and really yummy, but the portions inside are barely filled at ALL, so you are really only ever getting just buns with barely any fill. I have tried them 10x now, and every time, they are a delicious side treat, where you are still left hungry. Even their #1 main bao only comes with half an egg. Half. Who is eating the other half of my egg? Very cheap on ingredients, verrrry stingy with portions for their prices, still super delicious and recommended to at least try them out as they continue to try and grow the business. Hopefully in 6 more months I can update this to 5 stars, but for now, they are just too unrealistic with their pricing for a practically...

The food is delicious but not worth the price. Since it's a grab and go place, service is not available. As a grab and go place however, the cashier is incredibly inefficient and inexperienced. Taking her time chitchatting while there's a line up and fulfills delivery orders as a priority even though the delivery guy came after the customers who were already in line. A total waste of time waiting in the line watching her pack for several delivery orders one after another. If you have a real job, just don't bother. This is not a grab and go place, more like wait in the line until they've fulfilled all the delivery orders then come to the customers before you for placing an order with them. I was super lucky to have stopped eating when I saw the house fly inside my spicy chicken bao. It can be a traumatizing experience when the insect looks so shiny inside my food.

I did Uber eats delivery of $60 and they were only able to refund me specifically the price of one bao $5 even after explaining the issue.

I recommend everyone at least do a quick check before eating away unless you enjoy the bonus protein / nutrients.

The Restaurant needs to have better quality control / cleaner kitchen.

Reply to owner: the fly was missing one wing. You can try putting a large fly intentionally in your bun and see if it disintegrates after steaming. I’m 99% sure this fly was inside when we ate the food. Note the fly was completely dead...
