Waves Coffee House - Edmonds — Restaurant in Burnaby

Top Tier experience! Last Friday early evening I dropped into the Waves coffee shop at the corner of Edmonds & Kingsway. First time ever there. Walking up and acknowledging the three people behind the counter I said, “Hey, I understand you guys make the best hot chocolate.” The fellow to my left who I figured is the barista, replied, “we sure do!” I asked about flavors and he started about the dark chocolate but that his fav was the milk chocolate. Well, that was good enough for me because I love milk chocolate hot chocolate. I ordered a Waves size milk chocolate hot chocolate. When the barista handed me the cup, he said, “when you take the first zip, you'll know why this is the best”. Wow man, I really appreciate that kind of confidence and attitude. He was right. It was delicious. This fellow is a superstar and I wanted to acknowledge that. The young lady co-worker was also trying to do her job, was fabulous! And the fellow running the cash was pretty good too. Overall, a solid team. Am I going back? ABSOLUTELY! You gotta love milk chocolate...

Just came to this coffee shop couple times since offered seating and small selection of foods! I enjoy their feta croissant!? Its yummy! Must get it warmed! I once wanted something a little tea little sweet! Got a white matcha! I believe it was good! Both times! But i just disappointed how hard its to get seats! Seems regulars spread out come early until late and take all tables, chairs, not thinking of others! Making themselves at home! So if you want to sit and read! Be prepared to 90% be waiting! Because it's battle for a table or table with no chairs! When you finally sitting-enjoy the regular panhandler asking for your money scarring customers away! He got his monthly allowances! He does his routine every where! Help makes your coffee drinking more enjoyable lol! I was surprised though last scene manager did take control of the panhandler fiercely scaring the customer! The staff are fantastic 👏 which adds to makes this...

My opinion:

Pros: The place is spacious and most of the time they’re not busy (I normally went here around 5:30pm-6:30pm). Staffs are nice. I like the seating area, the design of both chairs and tables looks nice.

Cons: they will turn off the lights instead of letting you know they’re closing. (I witnesses it like four times I think) Not big deal for me but its really funny though 😂 i used to work in fast food and I understand its really tough to close the whole store by yourself.

Still five stars for me 😉
