Our family made a reservation for 10:30am for Mother’s Day. When we got there our table wasn’t ready yet, which was fine. It was quite busy. We waited about 15 minutes for our table to be ready. The section we were in was crammed, but again that was fine. It worked.
We then waited for another 15 minutes before anyone came over to greet us or take our drink order. My husband had to ask for someone to serve us. Our entire order was taken at once. We got our drinks right away.
We waited for an hour and fifteen minutes for our food. Our food came out staggered (meals came 5-20 minutes apart for each person in our group). My husband’s order never came. I got the wrong order, so I sent it back.
It was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I will never go back. The staff were all nice. I felt bad for them. I could see them trying and working hard, but it was pure chaos in there. Completely unorganized.
There should definitely be a cap on reservations. If you don’t have the capacity, you should say so no to taking more reservations. Say you’re all booked up. Also, when your kitchen is so slammed start a waitlist, even if you have open tables. Because seating people at a table who then wait for an hour plus for brunch makes for a bad dining experience. I think it would also be courteous to tell people food wait times (if you’re so slammed and behind). As soon as they sit down, say, “its going to be a 60-90 minute wait time for food, are you okay with that?” It would’ve been nice to know so we could’ve decided if we wanted to stay and wait for that long.
I’ve never written a bad review before, but I felt compelled to share my experience. It seems like the disaster of the day your restaurant was having could’ve been avoided with planning/being better organized and execution. It looked like you were adjusting lots of peoples bills. We are a regular customer of sunset grill and it was our second time at this specific location
The board outside of restaurant says its better with the new management but my experience was totally different
Food was good, no complaints about that. When we asked for a bill, the man who take care of the billing counter came to us and said “ We haven’t received your payment from last time, I sent one of my server behind you but they couldn’t find” and showed our photos from CCTV footage from that day
We literally felt like we are being culprit for things we haven’t even done. We recall the day. Contacted our friend who paid the bill that day.
So the situation there was power cut off and payment system was not working. Even some of the machines were not working, AC was not working and people were leaving from the restaurant but out of courtesy we ordered the food and asked for the bill once finished
This same person came to us saying machine is not working so send the payment by E-transfer.
Bill was 69 dollars and we sent 79 including tip. As it was password protected. We wrote the password on the hand written paper bill and gave it to him.
He might have lost it or forgot to accept the payment that’s not our fault but we still confirmed with the person who paid whether payment has been credited again if it’s a failed transfer.
As expected it was credited after 45 days and we paid that amount right away.
Our main concern is this thing could have communicated in well and professional manner. Directly coming to the table and showing photos from CCTV was little offensive. Specially when we are listening and ready to solve the issue
