One of the worst hukkah place i have ever been to. I would've given -5 rating if i had too. Poor customer service. The crew, especially manager working today around 5:30pm was really really rude. They literally kicked us out after sitting there and when we were very hungry and wanted to try their Shisha over the shisha's of cafe madina, which has much better ambience and options and far better customer service. They just lost their future loyal customers because of their rudeness and mismanagement.
They kicked us about because we had a bottle of unopened liquor with proper receipt, and which kept even away, out of reach, and assured them that we won't open it.
We even offered that they can keep our liquor bottle for the time we are in their restaurant to make sure we won't use it and we can take it back while leaving. But they said no. I personally wanted to talk manager about it but the manager was ' TOO BUSY IN BACK OFFICE SOMEWHERE' that he didn't have time to attend queries of customers. Even after so much compromise on our side which as a customer we did more than required they still didn't let us stay there. They should've wrote it out, on in their website to avoid any such situations.
I won't go back ever again. Highly recommend everyone out there not...
Read moreBEST HALAL BUFFET RESTAURANT IN CALGARY As a Muslim student at the University of Calgary who has a limited budget, I needed to find a restaurant that was both halal and affordable. The food had to be delicious as well. After hearing about this restaurant from a friend, I immediately visited it.
Food: The food was AMAZING! I ate almost 6 plates of food all by myself! I tried the Chicken Biryani, the Beef Kebabs, the Chicken Tandoori, the Butter Chicken, the Plain Rice, the Lentil Soup, the Goat Curry, and the Desserts as well! Everything tasted amazing.
Customer Service: The customer service was really nice. The waiter called me "Hi Boss" and this made me feel really special. Thank you for that.
Price: The all-you-can-eat buffet is very affordable, especially for students. The cost was $17 including taxes for the buffet in January 2020. There is no shisha or other haraam items on the menu, so this is a very family friendly place!
Location: The location is very convenient. It's in downtown Calgary. It is also very close to the mosque. So, after eating there, I immediately prayed at the Downtown Calgary mosque nearby and thanked Allah (swt) for His blessings.
THANK YOU AL-QUDS HALAL BUFFET...
Read moreAll the good Indian buffets downtown have disappeared. Shehnai is a distant memory. Glory of India was good, once upon a time. Green Chili has no buffet anymore. Neither does Moti Mahal.
Enter Al-Qud's. It's on the retail level of an apartment tower, where the old 8 Street LRT platform was, around the corner from the infamous Mac's at 8 and 8 SW. So it's not the most beautiful part of downtown. But I was lured in by the strong reviews and the promise of all-I-can-eat Indian for a measly (by Calgary standards) $13.
Great decision. The buffet wasn't overflowing with selection but was there was good- really good. Chicken biryani was excellent. Naan is made in a tandoor and is all you can eat- great naan, lovely texture. The pakora kadhai was rich and very nice. But most surprising was that damn butter chicken. NOBODY makes it good anymore, nobody in or near downtown at least. Letdown after letdown, it always tastes of dry chicken and campbell's tomato soup. Not this one- the gravy isn't cloying sweet and it has some fire. It's fantastic with the naan. Thinking about my dinner there I wish I'd eaten more- there was goat curry and channa masala on offer...
