My girlfriend and I were in the city for the night and trying to decide where we should eat nearby. We pulled up google maps and zoomed into the area around our hotel, and saw Don Day pop up. We clicked it to see many very positive reviews so we figured we would give it a go. It's definitely a hidden gem because you habe to know you're heading there to even realize it exists. We almost missed the place because the entrance was so unassuming. The service was incredible and so prompt and helpful. They found out we hadn't been there before and helped us every step of the way with the ordering/entree process. Not only that but the food was absolutely amazing. It was so flavorful and interactive (authentically Korean cuisine) and was very well priced. It seems expensive until you realize just how much food you get. Also, one entree is definitely good for two people at least. We got the steamed egg and pork and regretted filling up on beers because we wanted to keep eating but couldn't. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back anytime we are in...
Read moreit's a Korean restaurant. I feel like it's a Korean priority restaurant! If you don't speak Korean, you need to wait several hours until every Korean finish. I wait more than 3 hours with only 2 teams behind me. Unfortunately, they have 4 empty tables when I visit. When I confronted the waitress over the phone, she sounded disappointed. Received us with great reluctance. But someone speak Korean could directly have a seat. And they may get the dishes remarkably earlier. I was shocked at the narrow-minded shopkeeper. Such a serious violation of the Canadian spirit should be brought to justice. As a country of immigrants, Canada should treat different ethnic groups equally. Even though the waiter may not be Korean native speaker. The most important thing is, the dishes are pretty normal, just like a elementary school interest-class work. I highly recommend you just cross the street and choose Ssome restaurant. Or you can choose eastern fortune...
Read moreA small restaurant tucked away on. 9th st & 7th ave. On a Friday night (9pm) all 8 tables were full. We waited less than 10min before a table opened up.
Our spicy pork bone soup ($28.99) came out in less than 10 min. We allowed it to come to a boil on the propane stove it was also served on. The soup was delicious, and very meaty. There was a 1/4 of a potato we found at the end of our meal. To add some carbs, we each ordered a serving of rice ($1.50/ea). I'm used to restaurants providing rice when this particular soup is ordered. We ended up not being able to finish all the meat and took home a few servings.
We also ordered the kimchi seafood pancake ($10.99). It was quite small for the price and we did not enjoy it. I have not yet found a seafood pancake I like, But I'll keep searching ;).
We did not receive any ban chan, but maybe that isn't their style. This place is legit, it has great character and we will return to try other things...
