Today, my co-worker and I decided we would go to Izumi's. I sometimes park my car in the public parkade across the street from Izumi's, and have always wanted to go there for lunch. When we walked in we were greeted immediately and offered seating by the window. The decor is nicer than the street corner the restaurant occupies. The menus featured pictures of some of the dishes which I appreciated given that it was my first time there, and I wanted to see what some of the food looked like.
I ordered a spicy r amen dish, but was not able to add anything else to it. This was disappointing but not unexpected given that this is a Korean/Japanese restaurant. I did not find my meal very spicy. However, my co-worker informed me that Japanese dishes are not really ever that spicy. As such, I adjusted my expectations accordingly. The egg was not smoked but marinated......maybe for too long. Lastly, at least my ramen noodles were not over cooked.
Because this was my first time there I am willing to come here again to try another dish because I have not made up my mind about Izumi. Next time I will be sure to...
Read moreI have come here serveral time eat alone, usually I have to wait quite long whenever the restaurant is crowded or not, but it was ok for me until today they ignore me because other tables are group of 3-4, only me come alone. After getting order from a 4-person table, I ask to order and they said they can only receive 1 order each time. It's ok I wait till server transfer order to kitchen after waiting for 15 mins. Then it's my turn to order but my noodle is out of stock, but instead of inform me to order another dish, the server comes to another table of 4 to get order and let me wait, then inform me and intend to take the menu away even when I have not chosen other dish yet. It's not the first time when they ignore me when the restaurant becomes crowded, so I decide not to come back again. I can be patient to wait but I cannot support the fact that the restaurant discriminates customers because of money. I hope you could improve your service...
Read moreThis little hole in the wall offers a lot more than you think. Hidden from the rest of downtown off the 7th Ave c-train line, Izumi is a decent little restaurant for lunch.
Went there with a companion for lunch. Great food selection on their regular menu and lunch menu, both are quite extensive.
Service is great. Super friendly staff, very helpful and courteous. Quick to seat, quick to take order, and food is served quick too. Server is very accommodating and eager to assist.
Atmosphere is nice. Clean, modern and warm as compared to some other Asian restaurants I've visited. Not small or cramped, large solid tables.
Overall I enjoyed my experience and definitely will return as...
