We went there for the first time this weekend. This coffee shop has really good rating and maybe just my experience is rare. I went to order a few drinks and some cookies and croissants, all of the food items seem stale and dry. But the issue was in the ordering. I ordered 3 cookies and they only gave me one. When I asked, they said they forgot to ring in the other 2. Honest mistake but I then checked what they charge for the first one and realized they made a mistake. It was clearly listed as $3.50 in front of the cookies. And I told them so they don't charge me incorrectly and maybe give me a credit for the overcharge. Instead, they said they change the prices a week ago but forgot to change it on the counter. To me, that is their issue and should've charged me based on what was listed. This felt like a bait and switch. They didn't do that and just charged me the full amount and acted like they don't know what to do and don't want to be accountable for their mistake. Very...
Read moreFriendly atmosphere and actual Ethiopian coffee. I always get a latte for myself and my wife when I'm here, it is one of the very few places in this city that make it well. (By well I mean both the perfect temperature to drink immediately and an excellent depth of flavour.)
The owner is apparently Ethiopian too, which is probably why the coffee tastes authentic. The croissants are nice too but a bit hard.
Incidentally, the regulars are very nice; I had a nice chat with two people sitting next to my wife and myself. The Baristas are also quite nice, and are willing to chat with you if you want (and no one is waiting).
The social disorder from Alpha House is further down the street (closer to Luke's) so you don't have to deal with people shuffling through your car if you leave it open for a minute. (It's too bad too because Luke's also has...
Read moreI'm not an enthusiastic coffee drinker, so I usually have a bias towards sweeter coffee drinks, but this cafe's latte was really amazing. Even someone like me could appreciate the taste of the coffee they had there. I could tell it was high-quality and well made. We also got an assortment of pastries that were just as amazing. Can't say enough good things about their drinks and food. Also, this place was not busy when I went; maybe 5-6 people. Sometimes, you find a great cafe but it's always packed and that deters you from going there, but that wasn't the case with this cafe. Lastly, the batista that was working there was incredibly friendly in conversation and was very helpful with any questions we had...
