Learn moreWe had a weekday dinner at Brewsters on a whim last Thursday. One of our usual hangout spots.
We sat on the restaurant side and had prompt service. Our server was great and attentive, and made sure we had a pleasant meal. Thanks Nicole.
We enjoyed some Brewsters beers including Farmers Tan, River City and Jimmys Easy IPA. For starters we had the gyoza. I ordered the brisket tacos and she ordered the steak sandwich. We both had the side salad.
The gyozas came first and they were decent with the dip! Also on special on Thursday.
I really enjoyed the tacos. Good flavour, contrasting textures and nice presentation. The brisket is delicious. My only holdup was the amount of brisket in the tacos seemed a little light. I have ordered the massive brisket sandwich before and it was packed with brisket, for only a couple dollars more than the tacos.
She enjoyed her steak sandwich, which I had a bite of. Properly cooked for sure.
Our salads were pretty good too. A nice change from the heaviness of fries. The dressing was zesty and pleasant.
We also ordered a dozen beers to take home. I missed the big sale they had last month unfortunately. I also forgot to order them separately, so paid 18% tip for the beer as well, which removed the value benefit of buying beer directly from Brewsters. No big deal with that, my mistake.
Prices have gone up, same with everywhere.. Our dinner and sit down drinks for two including 12 beers to take home and tip was around $150
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and drinks at Brewsters. We always come back; they have great food, service and beer here.
Side notes about the location: two patios, which we didn’t utilize on this visit but they are a nice option. Also, there was live music and games going on...
Read moreOh yeah we went for my brothers birthday, the night started out really great and we all got our food, food was good as good can get here. I ordered the wings, didn't eat most of them because I have an eating disorder and I struggle greatly with food, so I asked for a box. Coincidentally it happened to be a wing night or whatever it is called there and so this boy with glasses and a unfortunate hairline comes over after I asked, about maybe fifteen minutes after and started off by saying "I don't wanna be thaaat guy" like some Reddit moderator and then started off by saying "erm due to company policy we cannot give you a container for your wings on wing night".
So I understand that people can abuse that and get more wings, however if you look at the situation mate, I don't think a young woman and her family who orders a lot of food and drinks is planning on stuffing wings down their pants, like look at the situation, and I highly doubt the company is going to examine each box and note if the 'golden' rule is being broken. Not only did we all express confusion with that rule but he continued with his pretentious attitude and began dumbing it down and covering up by saying "well it's not my rule" well mate, you're enforcing it.
After the fact, he proceeded to go and perhaps speak some lovely words to our waitress who then looked at us and coincidentally made a very lovely face as the boy gestured at us.
Her service then turned into something that would be produced by my dogs rear end, and she then tried the ol' rush em out the door method by shoving a bill in our face.
Well done Brewster's, hiring control freaks and...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in at Brewster's in Crowfoot Crossing for lunch today. My 93-year-old mother accompanied us. I was in a motorized wheelchair. Parking was no problem, neither was getting onto the sidewalk, into the restaurant, and parked at a table.
Our server was polite, efficient, capable, and not intrusive.
I started out with a tonic water and lime juice. I always do this at Brewster's and they have never failed me.
My mother and I both had fish (haddock) and chips (tater tots for me). The meal was served in something akin to a Japanese Bento Box, with individual containers/plates for the fish, tater tots, coleslaw, ketchup, and tartar sauce. I like things separate like this. The tater tots were topped with a hint of what I think was a chipotle aioli sauce, not sure. It was a bit on the light side, but I was dipping the tater tots in ketchup anyway. I found the fish was best eaten by picking it up and dipping it into the tartar sauce. And it was delicious - moist and flakey, the batter not overly oily. I left nothing on my plate.
Not sure what the bill came to, as my wife paid it.
We enjoy the ambiance at Brewster's, find it spacious and not noisy, and enjoy gazing out the large windows during lulls in the conversation.
As we were leaving, my wife and mother exited first then I followed in my wheelchair. The inner powered door did not stay open quite long enough....
