Learn moreThis used to be Pho Huong Viet which was a favourite pho in Ranchland/crowfoot. We were surprised when it moved and the name got renamed to Pho Mr.Q. First impression, service was worse than McDonald’s. We entered the restaurant and we were not greeted for a solid 10 minutes. I had to take initiative to wave down the server for both my party and the other party ahead of me. When we were ready to order, I again took initiative to wave down the servers. This was when another table shouted “we’ve been here for 20 minutes, and we haven’t even gotten waters”. Looking at some of the dishes, they were also dirty and not cleaned properly. I think they were also having troubles with take out customers as well. At one point they had 4-5 skip/Uber eat drivers waiting for orders, sacrificing serving times for their dine in customers too. Looking at the face of the staff, they were all disorganized, and frazzled. My vermicelli came out very quick but the phos never came out. The service was so poor that the table beside us left cash for the one dish that came and left. I went to talk to the manager about the terrible experience I had and what astonished me was that they had no idea that there were unhappy customers in their restaurant. They were oblivious to what was happening. We got our vermicelli on the house and didn’t have to pay a cent. I haven’t had such a poor restaurant experience in a while and will never be back. To add insult to injury, we came at 1pm so not even during the busiest lunch time. I would not recommend nor come back...
Read moreOur first dining experience here was absolutely outstanding. (Photos below were taken from 1st dining in) We started with the Beef Carpaccio, which was incredibly fresh and tender. The sweet and tangy dressing, combined with fragrant herbs, made every bite light and refreshing. Then came the highlight of the meal—the Beef Back Rib Sate Pho, a dish that truly lived up to its reputation. The portion was generous, the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Every spoonful left us amazed, and by the end of the meal, we were convinced that this was the best Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary.
However, because our first visit was so exceptional, our second visit turned out to be quite a disappointment. We ordered the exact same dishes, but this time, the experience was completely different. The Beef Carpaccio arrived partially frozen—when I picked up a slice, it was noticeably stiff, and there were even tiny ice crystals when chewing. When we brought it up to the staff, they simply told us this was their "normal" preparation, which was quite frustrating. The pho was also a letdown, as the beef was much drier and tougher compared to our first visit.
The inconsistency in quality, combined with the staff’s indifferent response, left us deeply disappointed. It’s unfortunate because this place had so much potential, but with such unpredictable standards, it’s hard to justify...
Read moreI had a disappointing dine-in experience at this restaurant. First of all, when we arrived, the restaurant is busy so my friend went in and ask if there’s a waitlist that we can drop our names down. They immediately said “it’s full house now, just go wait outside” which we did. But soon just to find out other group of people who arrived later than us went in a got a table right away because a table was leaving at the time. My friend went in again to ask, the other server answered “we didn’t know you were waiting outside”. We were pretty mad at this point because clearly they don’t have a system and lack of communication between their staff. Secondly, we finally got in and ordered. The servers were friendly but seemed clueless and inattentive throughout the entire time we were there. There wasn’t water until we asked. My friend order a pork chop meal, they never brought knives and fork until we asked. When she came back, she brought knifes and spoon…… There are definitely a lot of back and forth because they never brought everything we asked at one time. The large size chicken sate noodle soup I ordered was pretty bland. The bowl was big but actual portion size was small. The chicken was lack of flavor. It’s almost like they just throw in boiled chicken chunks in there. Consider the amount of Vietnamese restaurants in town. This one has fail in a lot of ways for customer experience. Not...
