My partner and I were in the area and we randomly decided to try this place. I like katsu and had good expectations when we walked in and saw the nice decor and menu.
The lady who served us was nice, however some things (out of her control) rubbed us the wrong way. We wanted something small to share as we weren’t super hungry and just needed a quick meal to get us through errands. We ordered the takoyaki, chicken katsu and a side of kimchi and thought “this would be enough for us to share” since the katsu was 18$ alone.
We were then told we were not allowed to order 1 main dish, the rules are 1 dish per person. I explained we just wanted to share everything, and if not, could we just do the junior sizes and order 2 katsus from there?
Again we were told we couldn’t even order junior sizes since we were not kids.
Well ok.. so we ordered another 18$ katsu.
The Katsu was crispy, but a little bland. The sides they give of rice and coleslaw were alright portions but the sides were incredibly small with a pinch of kimchi and 2 small pickles slices for the entire plate.
The total bill was 50$. I really wanted to like this place, it’s trendy but as someone who also works the restaurant industry I can’t justify setting rules for what your customers can and cannot order. I understand things are expensive, but the way we were pushed about buying another main dish had left a bad taste on our tongues and is a counterintuitive practice in...

Their Jun Katsu (assorted katsu including prawn, pork and cheese) is great to try a good portion of their protein offerings. The prawn with cream dipping sauce is delicious, but so is their pork and cheese katsu with the bulldog sauce!
The kimchi fried rice is a must try as their kimchi is made in-house and is the right amount of pickling and spice. The inclusion of corn cheese in the kimchi fried rice is what makes it so special! Don’t forget to mix in the nori that is generously sprinkled on the side. They even include a grilled sausage as well.
Another must try is the kimchi nabe; essentially it’s a katsu that is simmered in a kimchi broth; the broth is well seasoned and compliments the katsu very well. Opt for the cheese on top, makes it that much better! Only caveat I’d add is to not expect the katsu to be crispy since it has been simmering in the broth prior to serving; the breading instead soaks up all of the kimchi goodness and makes it a perfect bite with rice. Once you’re done, if you have any rice left over, I’d recommend adding the rice into the skillet to soak up the remaining broth/sauce and kimchi (no photo as it was consumed really fast after it arrived!).
Their spicy rice cake with noodles and cheese is also very good; has a nice amount of heat and the portion of noodles, fish cake and rice cake is great. Great for sharing with a group!
We will be back...
Read moreThis is my second time here and I have to say it was just as amazing as the first time. The food and service are EXCELLENT!
This place truly is wonderful and family owned.
The owners; Jun and his wife Sunny are absolutely gems. They are very personable with customers. They come out and introduce themselves and makes sure that everything is to the customers satisfaction. The servers are very attentive and friendly as well.
The food is delicious and you can really tell that everything is made with love and care. The Katsu batter is light yet crispy! I love biting into the food and you hear the crunch which then reveals flavourful fillings. I’ve had the assorted Jun’s Katsu twice now, you get to try all 3 Katsu (pork, shrimp, and cheese fillings). It comes as a complete set with miso soup, rice, sauces, and salad. The Yuzu dressing with the salad is really delicious and it’s a nice balance to the Katsu.
If you like Kimchi and want to try something new, try the dine-in special the Kimchi Nabe with cheese. Perfectly cooked pork Katsu cutlet on a bed of stewed kimchi with melted cheese to top everything off. Great balance of acidity and richness that just warms the soul with each bite.
Needless to say, Jun’s Katsu is my go to place for Katsu. The food is delicious but it is the feeling of like you’re walking into a close family/friends place for a meal is what will keep me coming back. Thanks for a great...
