I was excited to go back to this restaurant having been here many times as a child, but I can honestly say this is the worst fish and chips I've had in my life.

I'm sure the owner/staff are nice people. Unfortunately, it seems that whoever is running this joint (20yrs later) is completely disorganized and does not prioritize the food they are selling whatsoever, nor the service. Based on other reviews going back years, the short staffing is an ongoing problem

The fact that the door won't close fully without being forced and a constant cold draft comes into the waiting area should have been enough of an indication to not spend your money here

The fries taste like they came out of an oven along with being slightly stale. For instance, the fries at Costco you can buy and bake in the oven taste better and are far more satisfying

The fish was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. It's 75% batter and 25% fish (I'm not sure it's even fish that was inside some of it, just this chewy textured white stuff, see attached photo)

The portions are TINY. I'm talking the size of maybe a small chicken strip from Wendy's (probably even less actual meat to be honest) and mostly hardened batter with a texture I've never seen the likes of. More than half of it I had to spit out. I've never encountered anything like this at a seafood restaurant

On top of that, the restaurant itself was a complete disaster. 1 server, a room full of people coming and going (because they weren't being served), and a lot of people leaving with unhappy looks on their faces.

If you're going to run a promotion to bolster your business and attract new customers, and this is the result, I wouldn't be surprised to see this location close for good. I'm honestly shocked they're still in business. You could tell by the look on the customers faces who were leaving that they most likely wouldn't be coming back

I'm sure the owner will reply to this and attempt to rectify the situation with some free food in exchange for an updated review. Don't bother. You'll have enough complaints on your hands at the end of this that attempting to make up for it will only result in a worse outcome. Please take this advice, fix things, and then reach out when you're prepared to deliver! (If...

When we arrived, the first thing that stood out was the outdated decor. The floors were extremely sticky, especially under our table, and the tables themselves felt sticky to the touch. There were about four older couples seated throughout the restaurant, all waiting without any food in front of them — and once we were seated, it became clear why. It took 25 minutes just for someone to take our order, and another 40 minutes after that for our food to arrive.

The service was painfully slow. At one point, a couple who came in after us gave up and left after the server passed them four times without acknowledging them. Honestly, we wish we had done the same.

We both ordered the halibut fish and chips, priced at $33 each for a two-piece meal. What we received was extremely disappointing. The portions were much smaller than what other restaurants offer for a lower price. The fries were lukewarm, and the fish was rubbery — I seriously doubt it was even halibut, as it was bland and watery. The tartar sauce was equally disappointing, lacking any real flavor. Shockingly, the meal didn’t even include a small serving of coleslaw, which you’d expect for the price, especially since this was their "special."

After taxes and tip, our bill came to $82 for two very underwhelming meals. Honestly, we would have had a better, tastier experience just grabbing fish sandwiches from Burger King across the street — and saved about $60 in the process.

"Disappointing" doesn’t even begin...

I am absolutely appauled at the ignorant service my uncle recieved here last week. Every couple weeks my elderly uncle treats our family to Joey's he goes and picks it up and brings it over for supper FOUR times in a row they forgot to put minimum and upwards of three items in our order. This varied from Peices of fish to fries as well as items from my 3yo daughter kids order of dinosaur chicken which she is always so excited to get when he comes over!

Up until last week they were decent at providing a discount on his next order until he went in last week and the REFUSED TO SERVE HIM because he complained 4 times.

This baffles me! If they hadn't messed up our order FOUR TIMES IN A ROW we would have had nothing to complain about. To further this a young woman who works at the establishment confirmed that YES there was food left behind from our take out order ?!

As this is something we've done as a family for years we've are all very frustrated and dissapointed and cannot believe that their customer service could be...

This was not the Joey’s of old. I remember the brightly lit, in and out style of Joey’s, those days are gone. This was softly lit, had booths and invited you to stay, talk and enjoy good food. We were there for a birthday so taking photos was hard without faces. The good luck cats at the front were cool though. Next and full disclosure, we are vegetarian. This Joey’s has options. The Buddha Bowl and Bangkok Bowls with crispy tofu were fresh, filled and friggin delicious. Our fish eaters at the table gave the usual thumbs up. Fries were chunky and the Cesar salads with chicken went super fast. Our server Sean was mindful, polite and let us celebrate our friend’s day. Thanks Joey’s!

Update: husband left a message at the restaurant the night this happened and still no call back. We’re expecting a refund for the incorrect items. Ordered dinner tonight directly through the restaurant, for pick up. Got home and we received the wrong order- got a fish meal instead of fish tacos… and the fish looked like it’d been chewed on by a cat. It was soggy, and the batter was raw in parts. Called the restaurant and were told that they didn’t have an order for tacos placed tonight. We told them our receipt literally says tacos. The lady said ‘we’re closed’ and hung up the phone. It was such a weird interaction…
