I don’t usually drink coffee, but this morning I got to work a little early so I thought I’d treat myself to a mocha before heading in.
The barista (blond hair, Eastern European accent) at the counter could not have been less interested in being there or serving me.
I asked for a mocha & then asked if they had any flavoured syrups. She rolled her eyes and said no. They had vanilla. Okay, no problem, I’ll just have a regular mocha.
She then seemed maybe confused about what a mocha was? Or maybe a better way to describe her response was disgusted that I would have the audacity to order something so common? She asked if I meant a latte with chocolate. And honestly, as I said, I’m not really a coffee drinker, so I wasn’t 100% sure if that’s what it consists of. So I said, “I think so?” She just said “We don’t really do those here.” and seemed really put out that I’d even asked.
I was just made to feel stupid and like I was a massive inconvenience, so I said it was okay, not to worry about it & then headed out. It was just meant to be a morning treat, it wasn’t worth trying to hammer out this request with someone who had no interest in making a simple coffee.
But as I’m walking out, she yells after me, “We’re not Starbucks.”
Ummm… yeah. I know. I’m not particularly fond of Starbucks, there is no Starbucks in the area, and I prefer to support small businesses when I can. I wasn’t ordering some monstrous frappa-Frankenstein concoction. I had ordered a mocha.
So thank you to the Gravity barista for going well out of their way to make someone feel so small and stupid and inconvenient for daring to order a mocha this morning. I certainly won’t be recommending this business any time soon, and I certainly won’t be back. At least Starbucks baristas can offer some modicum...
Read moreIt was an average place. It was my first time there but it didn't impress me in any way. The food was expensive for such a simple fare but that's to be expected when the sign says "they have lazy owners". I'm sure that's supposed to be a joke.
I had a simple matcha drink & a bagel. The drink didn't have sugar & the bagel was served with two little packets of cream cheese I put on myself. I paid $10 for those two items and I was asked to tip on the machine. I thought to myself I don't know how good either one of these will be and I have barely received any service so I didn't tip. Again it was my first time there. Once I received the items I thought it was a steep price. Considering the person dropping them off didn't even say there was no sugar in the drink. Where I could find the sugar. Which I hunted down myself and didn't even bother asking the staff.
I mean this is the service industry. If you don't tip you don't receive service. So I thought I didn't get the service cause I didn't tip. I would get treated better at Starbucks but Starbucks is all about customer service cause everything there is expensive. These guys should just charge a little more for there items and give better customer service if money is the issue.
Match drink was just a match drink and not a matcha latte. Bagel was just a bagel with two packets of cream cheese. I suppose with today's inflation it's a fair price but I don't feel welcome enough to return. Just my personal feeling nothing to do with...
Read moreThis is my second time coming to this cafe. I walked in at 1245,1250 pm and I was hoping to have a quick 30 minute meeting at 1 pm before ordering something. At 1:15 one of the workers interrupts the meeting and they see that I’m on the meeting, to say that there is no loitering allowed and that I have to purchase something, otherwise the boss will be upset and they are coming soon.
My question is, what am I suppoused to do when I’m in the middle of a meeting? Get off and order something? Where is the bit of decency that says okay, let’s give her some time to finish her meeting then go up to her? Who knows what that meeting might’ve meant for me and my job. To be interrupted like that all over a small 10-20$ order?
I haven’t even met the person who interrupted me before and it hadn’t even been an hour but they chose to still interrupt me in that way.
Completely disrespectful and I’m extremely disappointed.
They came and apologized later and said they were sorry and anxious because of their boss. But nonetheless, they interrupted an important meeting and that is quite...
