Chicken on the Way — Restaurant in Calgary

Spent 55 dollars or more on 2 orders, Girl kept putting salt on fries, told her no salt so she made another batch and she salted it again so she did a 3rd batch , told her 2 separate orders 2 bags (which I had ) but I ordered 2 large orders of corn fritters (one corn in each ) Anyhow she kept singing and talking on phone through the process , started putting stuff in 1 bag while on phone I was waving to her NO 2 bags (I had 2 carry out bags but she was bagging the fritters and coleslaw ( which looked liked mashed potatoes ,and watery ) Any how the box was so greasy my mom didn't eat anything she gave it away , and I put mine out for the birds and squirrels ate it all . So NO we won't be going back .Pieces of 2chicken breasts each we paid extra for I must say were huge ,I did like the fact that they weren't salty I ate half of one but saw some pink in one spot so I didn't eat the rest or the other one .Kinda of looked dirty in there and smelled of grease , mom said the smell of the fritters were like old oil .so that turned her off , Girl was friendly but think cooking all the fries filled to top of basket FULL Jammed in there soaked all the grease up and there were some fries that were white and the girl was moving them under the brown ones in both orders , I was wondering what she was moving in the box ,she was facing me so ya I saw her repositioning something , any how thats what my experience was , Gravy was good , Plus no...

So normally I’m pretty happy with this place but my last experience left me with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. When I arrived there was a line and they were busy, I’m totally fine with waiting, that’s was not a problem for me. So 20 mins go by and we get out food great! But when we got home (20 drive) we realize there is no chicken in our bag just fries and fritters and the sides/fish we ordered. My husband called no answer and back to the car we go to go back another 20 mins to pick up the rest of our order. In the mean time I call again to talk to someone and tell them what happened and that we were on our way. The lady that was working the front swore that we got our chicken and she had given it to us over the phone. When we get there I tell her again we only received half our order and we still were missing the chicken. She then continues to say and start to argue with me that she gave us the chicken. Now if it had been a $2 cheeseburger I would have just said what ever it’s 2$ but this was 20$ of food. finally they gave us the chicken reluctantly and we were off. Soo pretty much the foods ok but I won’t be going back due to how poor customer...

Finally, another location. For years, I was spoiled. I lived a block away from the Kensington store. When I moved south, I wasn't happy about having to drive across town. The wait is no more. They opened up about 2 years ago, and once they broke-in their fryers, it has been the same great taste. The Bonus Dinner remains popular. They can produce huge orders, if phoned-in in advance.

Last week, I tried the fish and chips. Not Halibut House good, but very close.

Personally, I like the new Breaded Chicken strips, with a side of fries, some gravy and a corn fritter, of course.....but everyone has their own faves.

I also like the fact that they have the biggest pop selection, outside of a convenience store. Not paying for a company-branded cooler, allows them the flexibilitry of offering customers a great selection.

The young staff are always smiling.....not something you see everywhere. The prices.....nothing to complain about. Very affordable. Can't wait...
