Edo Japan - Crowfoot Circle. Complaint - Thursday, September 29th Todays date - Thursday, October 6th
Ordered food at 4.30pm online to be picked up at 6.30pm - advised very strongly on the order system about my sons allergies (in the ‘dietary restrictions’ section) Made 2 separate mentions of him not being able to have sesame nor the Teriyaki sauce due to allergies (hence the 2 hour notice). Picked up the meal ($60+) and headed home. On the receipt was the instructions about the allergy - so imagine my complete surprise to find my sons meal completely covered in Teriyaki Sauce!! I had to go out and get him another dinner (another $20). I contacted Edo Japan by private message on Twitter - took screenshots of my order - a picture of the receipt and provided pictures of the food. They responded almost immediately as to how they were so sorry and that they take allergies and dietary issues very seriously! The ‘Twitter’ representative told me that they felt it necessary to pass on the complaint to the owner and regional manager! Well, here I am - 1 week later - not heard a thing - not from anybody at Edo! They got my money so I suppose in there books we are done! As for me, once bitten twice shy, I won’t be back and I STRONGLY advise anybody with any form of dietary concerns or allergies to give this place a miss as they not only do not follow simple orders from the customers, they also do not care enough to follow up when you complain to them. I implore you! Stay safe - eat elsewhere.
You may wonder why I would let my son have supper from Edo when they are so ‘heavy’ on Teriyaki sauce, well, we found with enough notice when ordering, they tended to follow the instructions and he loved the yakisoba noodles and bento boxes. It just goes to show the importance of the ‘dietary restrictions’ piece of the online ordering system.
I may as well have just put my money in the compost - that’s where the...
Read moreI hate to write a bad review, because I love Edo and normally have good experiences. The food and particularly the sauce is delicious. My go to is sumo sized beef and teriyaki, with double meat. It's expensive but worth it. However, when you're paying around $22+ for a meal you expect to get what you order. I got home and there was less meat than a single order. Literally almost no meat at all, so they doubled up on the cabbage. I don't understand what happened but I paid for double meat and got almost no meat and lots of mushroom I think. Also asked for 4 scoops of sauce and watched her only put 2. I mentioned it but was ignored. The older gentleman that is normally there and seems to be in control was not around, I don't know if this affected things or not. Anyway, very very angry and disapointed.
REVIEW UPDATE: After contacting EDO as the managers reply requested, the owner immediately contacted me and apologized and rectified the situation. His concern and demeanor alone convinced me that this was a one off accident and not the norm for this location. He showed me that they care, both about their customers and their reputation. Based on this I am chalking it up to freak accident. I am reversing my stars in the rating here too. Instead of 1 star I now give 4. If there's a problem they are willing to fix it. I will go back to this location...
Read moreI visited Edo Japan for nostalgic reasons and was disappointed with my experience. While the food was decent, I felt that the portion sizes were much smaller than they used to be. It seemed that the restaurant had made changes to reduce the size of the portions and alter the bowl sizes to make it less noticeable. This felt a bit shady to me, as it seemed like the restaurant was trying to cut corners and save money at the expense of customer satisfaction.
In addition to the smaller portion sizes, the prices at Edo Japan are relatively high compared to other similar restaurants. This made it even more frustrating to receive such small portions of food. While I understand that food prices have been rising in recent years, I feel that the prices at Edo Japan are not justified given the small portion sizes.
In conclusion, while I have had good experiences at Edo Japan in the past, I was disappointed with my most recent visit due to the small portion sizes and high prices. The restaurant's attempts to reduce portion sizes and alter bowl sizes in a sneaky way left a bad taste in my mouth, and I would not recommend it based on my...
