Gong Cha Chinook - Bubble tea — Restaurant in Calgary

These Bubble Tea places are really starting to get more and more popular, with Gong Cha being one of the better known chains in Calgary. Staff here are friendly and can help you decide what to order, or make recommendations. Gong Cha allows you to customize your drink with toppings such as strawberry pearls, coconut jelly, etc. You are also able to customize the amount of sugar and ice that they put in your drink. If I recall correctly, there is a banner at this location that says something along the lines of: if you don't like the flavor of the bubble tea you have purchased, then you can try as many as you want (free of charge) until you are happy! I have yet to see anyone take advantage of this policy, and unless you are really picky, it should be easy to find multiple drinks on the menu that taste great. For me, I usually go with the Strawberry Green Tea and add the strawberry pearls. The result is a nice, cold, refreshing strawberry drink with a slight hint of bitter green tea at the finish. My first time going there. They treated everyone like they were regulars. I ordered a caramel milk tea, which I thought included pearls in it. Customers be wary that pearls are a “topping”. They didn’t ask if I wanted pearls, nor did they list the toppings on their menu. They just asked if I wanted a topping, which I would expect to be on the top of the drink. They should have explained it further. So I received my drink without pearls in it. Drink was also too sweet. And you can’t ask for pearls after cuz they seal it. It’d be nicer to get lids because I tried puncturing it and it spilled. Lol. I don’t know, they asked for half sugar but I don’t know what it tastes like. I might order again now that I know how everything works. They practiced good social distancing tho.

Edit: After multiple orders figured out my fav drink. the boba is really good its just the ordering system that is a bit hard...

I recently visited this location at Chinook, and had an amazing experience! The variety of flavors they offer is incredible, and I love how customizable everything is.. from the sweetness level to the toppings. I tried the matcha smoothie with tapioca pearls and pudding, and it was perfectly balanced, rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The staffs were incredibly friendly, helping me pick the perfect drink based on my preferences.
