The food has gone downhill lately too if you order on the weekend during the week it is OK : the cabbage in the noodle dish they use all the tough end pieces & they are so hard because they don’t cook it long enough. Some of the carrot shreds are hard as well in the yakisoba. You can’t even chew it you have to pick it out of the dish which I do because I like the noodles, meat and sauce and I’m usually loyal to businesses I go to, but it’s time to find a new place! I order food there by phone a lot! I spend a lot! I called to order food on a Tuesday 8:17 pm they are open til 9 PM & they are telling me they have no food left at all and I could hear a lot of people eating in the background because it’s a small place and you can hear that on the phone. Then she said they had no rice and I said well I order noodles never rice. Then she made another excuse that they were busy, well my job is busy too. (They knew who I was on the phone they can see my number)Does a restaurant not know how much food they sell after being in business for that long ? If you’re going to run a small business where you have a lot of other competition you need to have a good customer service or you have nothing!!The prices were raised higher than the same dishes at other nicer Japanese restaurants. It seems to be good on certain days, maybe the cook changes on the other days? And the inside of your restaurant is not the cleanest! That is why we get takeout. But try it and see what you think. Update: now the hours were changed...
Read moreEverything was going well until our server called for last call. Normally, after the last call restaurant let customers stay in the restaurant for another 30 mins - 1 hr. My partner and I were still working on our sake and untouched water (which we like to drink after drinking alcohol). I decided to pay early because I thought I would do them a favor, only to find out, right after I got back to our table that our unfinished sake and water had been taken off the table. We thought that was very rude. My partner was still sitting on the table. This is a number one etiquette for servers and for people who work in the restaurant industry to not clear off the table including water when it is occupied at the moment.
So we finally got our sake back.. but another problem occurred- that our server forgot to add our sake order onto our first bill, which was paid already.
If customer service means going above and beyond to keep customers happy and satisfied, then Midori did a really bad job. It would have been nice if they offered us not to pay due to the first mistake that was made. Second mistake is not acceptable. Midori should train there servers with the right etiquette and respect for the customers to keep them satisfied and leave the restaurant with a smile...
Read moreCame here past 8 on a Wednesday night and the tables still filled up after us so that’s always a good sign. The waitress was super friendly but not overly pushy and the restaurant itself is small and intimate. They also have front patio for when it gets nicer. It’s not the cheapest sushi joint around, but definitely worth what you’re paying for.
The only thing I thought was odd was that there was no seaweed in the miso soup, only green onions and tofu, but it still tasted alright. I like that they have a combo (salmon han-phan) that’s all salmon because salmon is one of my favourites and I usually avoid ordering sashimi to keep the cost down so this was nice. We also ordered the dragon roll and a couple other pieces of nigiri. The sashimi were nice, thick cuts and the fish on the nigiri literally draped over the rice ball until you almost can’t see it. I didn’t have any of the dragon roll but my fiancé said it was one of the better rolls he’s had.
Overall we both had a pleasant experience and would definitely come back and recommend this to other people. Maybe not for larger groups, but for a small group of friends this place...
