I ordered on Doordash. I ordered the wor wonton soup which was a great price and the flavor was decent but lacking some salt. For this order I added a message asking for soy sauce. I also ordered a chicken chop suey which again the flavor wasn't bad but it had so much liquid in it that it leaked everywhere out of the bag. It also would have been great with soy sauce so in the comments I again asked for soy sauce. I got my order and there was no soy sauce. My friend ordered on skip from a different restaurant, did not order soy sauce and got 6 packets without having to ask. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when you get food lightly seasoned and want to flavor it, soy sauce is great. I'm not sure if they were out of packets but unfortunately that left me with slightly bland food. It would be great to have an option for cutlery or when you request cutlery or napkins that you get some. I would give the food itself without the issue of soy sauce a 3 star out of 5. I would recommend looking at the notes section and maybe stocking up on some packets of soy sauce or putting it as an option to pay for it if you want to charge. There is no...
Read moreThis restaurant has the rudeness waitress staffs that I hardly saw anywhere else. Their waitresses show no respect to customers. Even though they are selling buffet and when customers are taking food, they followes them and gives orders such as "no, that is too much" or "do not take this" even though we did not waste food. They are loud, rude and unrespectful. One of the customer buys buffet food to take home. They gave her a takeout box to fill in, "as much as it fit in the box" to be one order. She filled the box and one of the waitress yelled at her "too much, don't take too much" in a loud voice getting attention from nearby customers. I saw the box was snapped in perfectly and did not see any thing more than may be 1 or 1 and a half plate if you eat in. This is embarrasing and inappropriate for a waitress to talk like that to a customer. This waitress continues with more rudeness, loud during our lunch time. I asked what is your name. Her name is ANITA. DON'T COME TO THIS RESTAURANT without notify the owner for his staff rudeness. Challenge the waitress with low tip and see...
Read moreI lived in the neighborhood within walking distance to the restaurant. Hi-Ball has been one favorite choice for lunch or dinner when I didn't want to cook by myself. I have been to Hi-ball for maybe 100 times? It never let me down for every single dish I have had for every time.
As a Chinese living in Calgary for two year, I have to admit I am more picky on the Chinese restaurant than many others. My first impression of Hi-ball was the dish's quantity with very reasonable price. The homestyle cooking might not attract you if you are looking for fancy-made/decorated chinese food. But if you care about eating healthy, nutrition, quite atmosphere to try chinese food, location or any other good quality I mentioned above, you can not miss this one. The dish is full of flavors. The meet and vegetable are always fresh, at least for the many times I have visited.
I don't know why some reviewers complain about the service. For my experience, the service is good and waitress is nice, even at the peak hour of...
