Jimmy’s A&A — Restaurant in Calgary

I'm in Calgary visiting a friend from Ontario and my friend took me to Jimmy's today to eat knowing that I love Lebanese and Arabic food...ALL food really. I grew up eating Mediterranean Cuisine and have it on the regular in Ontario. I even make my own Tabbouleh because I've had it home made and know what it should taste like, but not everyone makes is all that great where I'm from. I can honestly say that this was THE BEST Tabbouleh, Kibbeh, Gyro and lady fingers that I have ever had, no joke!! The best!!! Not only was there such a variety of food, that I didn't even know what to chose, the guy behind the counter gave me a sample knowing that I had never been there before. The portions were amazing and the price was right!! Jimmy was hands on taking payment, greeting everyone and making sure everyone was happy and in a good mood all while taking care of his friends that were sitting outside. Knowing I was visiting, Jimmy gave us our deserts on the house and was so amazingly friendly, helpful, funny, gracious and such a lovely big personality, that even if the food wasn't good, I'd be back just to visit him. The fact that the food was amazing, best I had ever had, makes this my absolute favourite place to get Mediterranean cuisine. I find out that he's been in business for more than 10 years says a lot about the quality of food and service and it shows. I'm sad to know that I wouldn't be able to eat here on a regular because I live in Ontario, but you had better believe that I will be eating there again before I leave!! Hey Jimmy, you should consider opening a location in Ontario! I'll be there on the regular! Thank you for the wonderful food and doing what you do the right way! Keep on...

I've been eating here since 2007. It's always been a favorite, however my recent experience was bad. Of course, the food was good as usual, but this review is about the customer sevice I experienced. After spending 3 weeks in the foothills hospital and just wanting a real meal that isn't slop, we went here literally on our way home from the hospital after being discharged. The guy who took our order was difficult to understand and didnt seem to understand what I was asking for. I made it very clear "not spicy". I then moved on to the lady making the food, when she began to put hot sauce all over my fries. I said excuse me, is that mine, I asked for not spicy please. Well, this woman then rolled her eyes at me and made a big deal about taking the fries now covered in hot sauce out of the container with her hand ... and then with incredible attitude looked at me while she tossed them. She then put new fries in the same container without even wiping out the hot sauce still in the container (I couldn't eat them). Okay ... I then asked for extra garlic sauce and sweet sauce to which she rudely replied 'I already put it on', I said okay can I have more please? She closed the lid and ignored me. So, I asked for a side of each when she practically yelled at me that I would need to pay 2$ each sauce. I had expected a charge and even 2$ is fine, but both were filled maybe a ⅓rd. I have a feeding tube and required the sauce to actually be able to swollow the food! The rudeness of this employee after an incredibly difficult hospital stay really makes me question why I have supported this place going on 18 years. Truly, do better. I can't imagine we will return...

Update: Covid19 precautions have improved. Service has gotten worse. Staff write down your order then they give you your order and it doesn't have much of what you asked for. Lots of veggies used to get me a stuffed pita, now it's a strip down the side. Sauce, used to be copious and now it's a trickle. You ask for this or that and they would have it. Now they missed all of the above twice and no banana peppers too. Basically they changed my meal expectations the last 2x. See attached image.

Maybe this isn't a big deal to anyone else, but I expect when I ask for a meal, I'm articulate and reasonable in my requests and when those requests are written in front of me then I expect for a fee to have that service provided.

Good food, solid service, been going for years, but generally irresponsible regarding Covid19 precautions. See below of list of concerns.

While standing and waiting for my food I witnessed regularly closer proximity than 2min, no masks of any kind, no gloves, forgot the hand sanitizer, watch the staff touching the payment device without due concern, no clear way to line up, people being told to call when they arrive and then being told to order at another door. This last issue actually caused some conflict between two groups of customers who were upset about the other not following the rules which were unclear.

It was like a failure by a 1000 little mistakes that added up.

We'll be significantly limiting our contact with them until there is a resolution on Covid which means a considerable amount of money won't be spent there by us and our extended family. Feel free to decide what makes sense for you and...
