Kensington Pub — Restaurant in Calgary

We usually have a good experience here but our last visit on Sunday around 2-3ish was disappointing. Sat on the patio and after we got drinks our server barely came to check on us. Finally ordered food which took longer than usual to come out while other tables sat after us were getting their food. Once we ate and finished we put our plates to the side and for 30mins our plates sat there and our drinks were empty while our server and other servers served tables around us without checking on us once (didn’t check on us while eating either). Finally we were tired of waiting so I went inside to ask for the bill and got told the machines were slow so that’s why it was taking a while but tables (again ones sat after us) had been getting their bills brought out. It’s fine if the machines were down but it would have been nice to have at least been checked on, had drink refills or plates cleared. The tables around us were being severed and had the servers checking on them multiple times while we sat trying to make eye contact with at least one person. My partner and I are younger and we got the feeling that is why we had such worse service than others. Again we usually have a great time here but this last visit left a sour taste...

I had heard great things about this place and was excited to try it. Unfortunately I didn’t find it to be appealing, or inviting. When we went yesterday, we were shuffled around until they could find a space for us, the weird thing is the space they put us in behind the left of the bar had tons of seating but was not originally offered to us. Our server was extremely polite and could hold decent conversation (which is why I rated a 2 star) but other than that, everything was not satisfactory. We waited well over an hour for our food. Wings were decent, my meal was not. When the food arrived it was bland and just looked like it was thrown on the plate. I ordered fish and chips, the coleslaw was warm and tasted like it was fermenting and not stored in a refrigerator. The fish under the batter was a very weird colour, made me extremely nervous to eat, so I didn’t. I was left with eating the fries and gravy that were part of my meal (which in my opinion were also sub-par). My husbands beef dip was tasteless as well. I have eaten at many pubs and genuinely enjoy pub food. However I don’t think I will be back because there are way better options for great pub food...

Well, what a disappointment With our recent visit to the K Pub… The service was surprisingly slow. I asked for a sample of wine. I did receive that and then it probably took close to 15 minutes to get regular service from our waitress Sam…. her delivery was poor, our appetizer of Samosa was overdone… we were hungry so we carried on.. when I cut into the Samosa, it was too well it slipped off the plate… hard to cut into… When I presented it to the waitress, Sam …I asked for another order. It never appeared. I was of the opinion that perhaps they might’ve comped another one … But was also prepared to pay that would be the right thing to do and then we asked for a bill, another staff presented it …we asked for it to be split well that was a big issue. “Did you tell your waitress that we wanted it split”“ no we did not it was almost like an argument … my friend and I were really disappointed in the food and the service generally that is our go to pub on occasion but it’s going to be a while before we go to the K pub again!
