I've been to a few pubs in Calgary but this one truly looked and felt like a proper English pub you'd see on TV. It was literally like being in someone's home in the way it was cozy, inviting without being cramped either. I was served by the bartender-I didn't get his name-and although he was busy, he never was inattentive I ate at the bar and enjoyed an actual Shepherd's Pie which contained LAMB-note to all pub owners/chefs, a Shepherd's pie that has beef in it and not lamb is a cottage pie. But name's aside, this was a REAL hearty meal. I'd been up since early morning helping a friend get packed for a move and didn't have lunch. So I was pretty hungry when I ate it but after dinner I was FULL. Plus, it's been hard to find a pub that has a real summer dessert on the menu, as so many resort to a brownie or a sticky toffee pudding. But when it's hot out you want something cool, refreshing and maybe some fruit in it, you can't go wrong with the Eton Mess. It's a classic English dessert and I did enjoy it. I'll be coming to the Kensington Pub again to try some more of their classic dishes.

Addition to review in response to owners reply. I only bring attention to the server if the food is inedible I gave 3 stars which rates as good. I review and if I return and the food is improved I change my rating. Most owners thank me for my reviews and use it as a chance to improve. I find your response aggressive and blaming me for my experience. It makes me reluctant to return. Have not been back to this pub for a long time. Always liked the atmosphere. I shared yorkies and samosa's with my friend and was disappointed. The yorkies were okay, but the bun or yorkshire pudding was dry and only tasted like a bun. The meat was also dry. A nice horse radish dip might have helped out. My samosa's were overdone and quite hard to bite into. I thought we were getting half veg and half beef samosas, but were all beef. The mango sauce was good. No issues with server, very nice.

This is an awful picture of an ok poutine. I'm leaving one star for the treatment i received after recommending the place for my friends. We came inside and got offered a booth, just to be asked to move upstairs because we supposedly didn't order anything (we were 5 and wanted to eat before drinking something). There was some promos going on so for starters a couple of friends ordered a beer and we ordered a chicken wings which never came because we hadn't ordered drinks for each of us individually. Well, okay. My friends ate the poutine and we left for another place where we don't have to wait 45 minutes to find out we won't be treated to our orders and we will consume the drinks we wanted to order here instead. Thanks and until never again. Also, this was my third time coming here and overall I had a good experience in other times, but once is enough.

Wow what a great little find. Staff super friendly polite but professional and they seem to know what advise to give and step back this is a small pub but has so much history and it’s on 2 floors with a fireplace and balcony and where the fireplace is they have 2 seating areas. The food is really good I took roast beef and Yorkshire pudding whipped potato and steamed vegetables and they use real spicy horseradish which was outstanding haven’t had such a nice Sunday lunch like this in ages. Would definitely recommend Kensington pub to anyone and there brunch menu is also very interesting will look forward to going back. I was sat upstairs so l looked into the beams.

My sis and I decided to go have lunch. I had a huge hankering for Yorkies. Very few places offer them. We finally found them on the menu at Kensington Pub. One of my fav watering holes in the summer. Oh it was sooo cozy!! It had such a nice vibe on such a dreary day!! The Yorkies WERE AWESOME!! NO EXAGGERATION!! Everything I'd hoped for. Including a drizzle of horseradish cream! With beers and two appetizers it was very reasonable. The chicken wings were also delicious!! We'll be back!! One of the friendliest places in Calgary! I dont know anyone who works here so this is objective!! Check it out!!

Adorable pub in the middle of the quaint Kensington neighbourhood. Lovely evening so we sat outside on the patio. Started with lime Marguerita and a beer. We shared a wedge salad - crisp and fresh. Lots of bacon, topped with sweet potatoe shavings. I had the gnocchi with brocolli and spicy sausage in a rose sauce and Alice of garlic toast - absolutely yummy!! My guest had the short rib dinner - a massive serving of succulent and fall apart beef, a mound of fresh mashed potatoes and lovely buttery seasoned green beans. All around great meal and awesome service. Great prices.
