Went to winebar for my birthday dinner tonight with my partner! Super excited as it's our first time out since March 2020. We ordered the duck pasta, but then was told that although on their menu, they no longer made it with duck, which was disappointing bevause it was a reason why we chose winebar.
But oh well!!! they had another duck dish! We ordered charcuterie, the short rib pasta and the roasted duck instead. We got our charcuterie and rib pasta, but I made it pretty clear to the waitress how excited we were for the duck. The charcuterie and rib pasta was delicious, we finished that after about 1hr including the cooking time for the food. After another 15 minutes, the waitress came by and asked us if we wanted dessert, we said oh we are still waiting for our duck. Then she said the kitchen was really busy and it should come very soon. Which we completely understood, although the restaurant didn't seem to busy could be online orders.
We then waited for another 30 minutes. Another waitress came by and asked us is she could get us anything, I said west still waiting for our duck. Then another 30 minutes went by and I started to get a little annoyed. So my partner suggested we ask for the duck to go and get going home as it was late and we live far. He went inside to pay and ask for the duck to go, to then find out the bill somehow got stabbed without the duck being sent out!! So we sat around for nearly 2 hours expecting food that wasn't coming. ALSO NOT ONLY did the 2 waitresses not check on our duck after asking us if we needed anything else, they completely forgot about us and then ignored us. The food we did get was great but not impressed with the service.
The 2 stars are for the food ONLY!! I would have given the food 5 stars but honestly it was such terrible service, it ruined the experience AND I NEVER GOT...

Pasta was absolutely disgusting. Was waaaaay too salty and IMO wasn’t worth $22 with frozen peas.(I ordered the ricotta ravioli) The pasta was packed underneath the two wine bottles and got absolutely smooshed when the handle broke from being too heavy when I picked it up at my front door and fell on the floor. Not only that, they gave me the wrong rosé. The Italian Rosato was delicious and what I ordered, but I also ordered a Pinot Grigio Rosé from Italy and I received a Cinsault from France. Still decent but not what I ordered. I’m absolutely in love with that Pinot Grigio rosé so I’m pretty disappointed that that was one of the wines they didn’t give me. They usually have good wine so it’s usually worth it wine wise, but now I know not to order any food unless it’s charcuterie. But they messed up my wine order too. I only noticed the wrong wine the next day because I drank the Rosato on the night I received the order, and went to open the Pinot Grigio the next night and it was completely different from what I ordered. Would really like to be compensated for the wrong wine if it was less expensive than what I ordered, and would like to receive the actual wine I intended to order. I don’t complain much about restaurants but I’m pretty upset about this.
I know it seems silly, but I’ve been trying to support local businesses even though the wine is marked up 2x, so I’m paying extra for the wrong wine. Not...
Read moreI have never been to winebar Kensington before. I parked a bit far from the restaurant and found it interesting to scurry quickly in my stilettos. I was surprised that they are located down a small flight of stairs. It made upon entering more interesting. I was delighted with the cozy rustic vibe. It’s been a while since I indulged in wine. The pairings were perfect with the charcuterie and Napa Valley red. As the server poured a taste sample from the canteen it was quite stunning to watch the red wine make a splash as it hit the bottom of my glass. As I picked my drink up I can smell the richness of the full body wine climb to the top as I swirled it carefully. My tastebuds we’re excited as I opened my mouth and let the wine touch my palette. I could feel the rush of a cashmere like texture warming me while catching a glimpse of the storm just beginning to rage outside. It was really comforting to enjoy such wonderful food and wine and in great company too. Highly recommend this place.
